    Slant 6 225 carb?

I went thru the replacement carb ordeal a couple years ago. My '67 Dart came with a 1920 but got so it wouldn't idle worth squat no matter what I did. Against everything I'd read here I tried the rebuilt route...one (only one they had) from Rock Auto and several Tomcos from O'Reilly. All were...

    Junkyard mufflers

Junkyards charge admission these days??? Does the price include all the "free" fuses that'll fit on your pocket? Then again, I suppose you're lucky to have yards that let customers go "out back". None of 'em that I know of around here do anymore. Not that there'd be any A parts anyway...

CA black plates....just picked up a car....

Are you saying that in Calif. the plates stay with the car when it's sold?? That's weird. Must be a PITA when you get a new car finding it in a parking lot...unfamiliar car, unfamiliar plate. Why do they do it this way?

    A/C push button switch

Are you referring to the heater/A/C controls on the dash? If so, I'm pretty sure the push buttons switch engine vacuum to various plungers, etc. DC voltage would just be for the blower motor (and lighting if it has it).

    Slant Six Carb Help

Any tricks for dealing with leaks around the bowl cover of a 1920? Had one I "fixed" by using a cork gasket, but that didn't work on the other one.

How do you get your used parts so clean?

You might want to check car washes. A few years ago I got a bunch of them...they were next to the building with a "free" sign in front of them. I got 'em to use as rain barrels for my garden.

    Cell Phones and Driving

Maybe I'm just an old fart, but give me the days when the radio and heater controls were easy and intuitive to operate. Waaaay less distracting than today when everything is done via touch screen menus filled with cryptic symbols.

    Tape vs split loom

A vote here for the split loom. Not they way they did it at the factory, but neither is half the other stuff people here do to their cars. Looks neat and is a lot easier to install, or to make changes.

    Swinger rarity...

Yeah, welcome to the world of living in New England. :BangHead: They use so much salt (and nowadays brine) on the state/US roads cars didn't stand a chance in those days. For US brands, Fords were the worst, GM the best with Chrysler somewhere in the middle. You were lucky to get a Japanese...

    Swinger rarity...

Let's be real here, how many similar vintage of any brand do you see regularly on the street? Certainly not as a daily driver. Other than Mustangs, it's rare to see ANY Ford from that era, even at shows. Yeah you see quite a few old Chevys, but they sold a lot more of them too. I probably see...

Yeah, not much fun. I was always afraid I'd drop the screw for either the points or the condenser inside the dist. Fortunately, never did.

Why do all cars look similar/same/cloned now?

Not to pick on toyota (well, maybe...), but they have always taken ugly to a new level. If this car's grille were a face, I'd say it looked like it just bit into a lemon.

Why do all cars look similar/same/cloned now?

I'm only a couple years younger than you and I agree today's cars (or at least the majority) all kind of look alike, are really ugly or both. Even the new Jeeps look like some Japanese minivan. Not that a new car is in the budget anyway... Agree that all the government-mandated safety crap is...

    Severe overcharging from my 72

Sounds like either the VR is bad (or has a bad ground) or the wire from the field to the VR is shorted to ground somewhere. The ballast resistor is part of the ignition and has nothing to do with the charging system.

Yellow Turn Signals vs Red Turn Signals

Had a TC3 Horizon with them too back in the day. ....and the rust where the bed floor attached to the single wall. Up here you were lucky to get a year out of them before the bed rusted off. The Japanese never did get trucks.

    Why Why Why???????????????????????

I dunno, I did the same thing to mine. It's a shame all those design engineers at Chrysler couldn't figure out how to make a wiper arc long enough to clear the whole windshield.

okay guys...biggest pet peeve at car shows

No offense, but that's probably my #1 peeve, owners who are never around their cars. Lotsa times I'll want to chat up the owner of something that I like but never see anyone. I get that you want to check out the other cars (I do too), but would it kill you to hang around your own once in a...

+1 on Mikes. They also carry cork bowl gaskets for the 1920...I've found they seal a lot better than the neoprene (?) ones that come with the kits.

    PC reset

When you get things back the way you want them, it might be a good idea to create a drive image. With one you can restore everything exactly as it was at the point you created it. Nice to have in the event of a virus infection, HD crash or whatever. Norton Ghost is good, but a bit pricey...

What got you hooked on A-Bodies anyway?

In my teens I'd pretty much been a Ford guy, but around 1968 or so one of my neighbors bought a new 2 dr HT Dart. I thought this was a really sharp looking car...no offense to early A fans, but prior to that I thought they were kind of ugly. A couple years later when I was ready to buy my first...

    Any Toyota Techs on here?

Couldn't pay me enough to drive a toyota, but that's a tale of woe for another day.:soapbox: I don't think this is a vacuum problem. Every vehicle I've had would default to defrost if vacuum is lost (or greatly diminished)...I believe this is a gov't requirement. Besides, vacuum would likely...

    Windshield leaking

I feel your pain. Went thru the same thing a couple years ago when I replaced the windshield in my 67 Dart. Dunno if we had a bad batch of butyl, but it didn't seem to stay in place..would kind of ooze out and didn't seal well. Finally after the unpteenth time of removing it we used silicone...

    manual oil gauge tee

    manual oil gauge tee

How did you get it to fit? I wanted to do that on mine, but there wasn't enough room to thread the tee and nipple into the oil pump, the tee would hit the block. Would love to have both gauge & idiot light.
