I painted mine with regular Rustoleum enamel (red and blue). You do need to clean wax off with a toothbrush and lacquer thinner. I did mine 8 years ago still looks great.

the channel is lined with a procuct called moleskin or sometime just channel liner. I have a roll left after doing finishing my car. if you need some let me know. It is usually sold my auto glass shops and is used to reduce the size of the channel and keep the glass from contacting the metal.

I need to replace my factory tach with something that works. If I remember the hole in the dash will accomodate a standard 3 3/8" diameter tach. Does anyone know if that is correct?
