Bitter taste of defeat! So much coolant in the oil pan.

As I read through the thread I was wondering if any one had had this experience. Some guys will angle mill heads to gain compression when you bolt up the intake the bottom of the gaskets will not seal (unless the manifold is milled to match) They will often not leak until after or during a heat...

My 51 Studebaker pickup still here, was also my nephews first car. I graduated to a '60 Dodge "Dart" Phoenix 2dr. Hard top. 318 Poly. The first Dart, though it was a big car weighed in at 4,200 lbs. Have the Stude' in a hot rod version too, been a rod since 1994.

    Feeling violated

You guy's have about said it all, and very well, If we (Mopar guys & gals) were attempting to fit the mold that has been cast we'd all have red or blue Camaros or Novas, or a tri 5 Chevy. or one of the few Fords that have somehow become iconic. There are the odd other Ford/Chevy choices that...

    tilt column

I put a tilt column out of a '68 Camaro in my Valiant, fit like a glove up top, I also have rack & Pinion steering so how the bottom will fit up to the original steering box I don't know. But I doubt it will be rocket science. I suppose those columns are pretty hard to come by, I just happened...

    need some Hemi help

I have a 2003 Ram 2500 with a 5.7 lt Hemi. It has developed a coolant leak that seems to be coming out between the block and the bell housing. I assume there are core plugs back there but have never had one of these out of the vehicle. Is my assumption correct? or is there someplace else...

    Who likes strippers : ) ???

My first car was a "stripper" too... but I think all '51 Studebaker pickups were. That's all my dad would ever buy, at least while I was a kid. The list is very short as he was a mechanic in a Chrysler Plymouth dealership, during all of my growing up years. A '47 Plymouth coupe, '51 Plymouth...

A833 - are they usually a hard box to drive?

Lot's of great advice shared already. I tried several different oils in mine, and finally landed on Red Line MTL. It's on the spendy side, but I found it shifts noticeably better with it than any of the standard choices. Knowing that the clutch is working properly is a must as well.

    over zealous moderator

I learn a LOT from the words people chose to use in their posts. I learn about their character and the amount of respect they have for those who read what they write. How else will I ever know who I should search out when I need something special. "No matter what you do or say, you are teaching...

Barrett bidders have sh** for brains

I hate B/J. That outfit has done more to ruin this hobby that anything I can think of. After watching it some rube that has an old bone out in the field automatically thinks it's time to sell the old rust bucket and retire. The day's of being able to find a project and then afford to build it...

I'll chime in, If you're concerned about the cost and weather it's (the car) is worth what your spending, re-think doing it. We who have been at this for a while know that you have to enjoy the build, and the ride and place a priceless value on the things that have no price tags. if you are to...

    Droped spindles VS offset bushings

IMO, If you lower the car more that one inch lower that oem spec. the front end geometry goes out the window. Was it all that great to begin with? WOW! What a lot of information. One area that has not been mentioned is; How many wheels were actually adding traction to the equation? If the only rear wheel that was on the ground (or had weight on it) was the same one that hit the manhole cover, what did we think might happen? somehow all the...
