    Hard heads...

I've worked in parts for about 10+ years now. And I will say. That 8 hours a day of dealing with customers can wear on you. You can really only hear so many stupid ideas in one day without it getting to you on some level. Over the years I learned one very important thing. Some people are open...

Cruise night cancelled, too many dumbass's

We had a similar problem over 10 years ago here. There was a "street machine weekend". Everyone cruised up and down our local "strip". Lots of burnouts. Revving engines. Little races through the lights. Cops were handing out hundreds of tickets. Stunting. Dangerous driving. Etc etc. But I rarely...

    Gripe: "Restoration." Yea right.

To me restoration means it was a car that was in a not driveable condition. Restored to a driveable condition. A car that is "restored" should need absolutely nothing to pass a safety, be insured and registered and driven daily. That said. There is "levels" of restored in my mind. Complete...

    rev n ator system?

I got the ecu. Running it with a reman distributor and msd coil right now. I do have the firecore distributor. Just haven't curved/installed it yet. I like it. Cleared up some random miss I had at idle. Runs strong. I'm looking forward to the new distributor as well. Hoping it runs even stronger.

    Cutting out

Does it cut out or miss above 4k? Or is it just right around a certain spot it does it then it clears up? If it's something like that it could be too much advance coming in too fast. So it only screws up in a small spot, then its fine at the higher RPMs. I always double check fuel flow cause it...

    Cutting out

This. And timing. Also have you checked fuel flow? You might be experience fuel starvation at higher RPM. Is this a new problem? Or first time taking the engine that high?

    Frustrating trip to NAPA yesterday

Haven't. Never had a magnum motor. They are the only felpro numbers I could find though. Felpro says they are an OEM replacement of better quality.

AC in the race car !??

AC? Isn't that just a fancy term for vent window?

    Holley Brawler Carb

Isn't that just a rebranded quick fuel? Slayer series I think? From back when Holley first bought quick fuel, but wasn't selling them under the holley name yet.

    Edelbrock heads: Adjustable rockers needed?

Might be able to find an old set of 273 adjustable rockers on the cheap.

    Edelbrock heads: Adjustable rockers needed?

That's kind what I was trying to say, but in a nicer way I guess. Maybe he just doesn't have the money right now and its his daily car, needs to get it back up and running. I can understand that. But yes. To put it bluntly. It doesn't make sense to buy upgraded heads just to run stock valve...

    Edelbrock heads: Adjustable rockers needed?

If you go with roller rockers. Call mike a B3 and get one of his geometry kits. Your valve train will thank you.

    Edelbrock heads: Adjustable rockers needed?

Well the thing to remember about stamped steel rockers is that they are never a true 1.5 ratio. In fact some have speced at 1.45-1.4 or lower. I think lowest someone saw was down in the 1.3X range. So you will lose out there. I've never in person seen someone use stamped steel rockers on an...

What setup do you want to run? Stamped steel rockers?

    Frustrating trip to NAPA yesterday

Ahh missed that. When you said 5.2 I just thought 318 LA not 5.2 magnum. Try - VS50419R https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/fel-vs50419r/overview/make/dodge

VS13395 These are the ones I got for my 340. They are the blue stripped cork rubber. Haven't used em yet. But apparently they are an OEM or better quality replacement.

little trouble shooting after a brisk walk

Definitely not vapor lock then. Are the fuel bowls getting filled? If they are being filled. You know gas is making it to the carb. Then you can look down the carb and see if it's making it into the engine. If it is then you're basically left with spark. Since you've tried starting it so many...

little trouble shooting after a brisk walk

Right of the bat. With missing several light cycles and sitting at a light. I wanna think vapor lock. Is it hot there? Does it start up and run fine after sitting in the shade for say 10 or 15 minutes?

    Frustrating trip to NAPA yesterday

As a partsman myself. I feel your pain. I generally don't go into the counter to ask for anything. I look it up. Get a number. Call them, or better yet if their website lets you, I look it up to see where it is. Then I go and get it. That way I only have myself to blame if I look it up wrong...

how much compression is too much?

What octane. Hell you can run 16:1+ on certain race gas no problemo.

someone needs this (dual quad long tube intake)

You know. Ever since I had this crazy idea. I can't help but look at this intake differently. I had an idea laying in bed a few weeks ago. Of a cross ram setup. With a little 142 blower on each side. They aren't much bigger than the carb flange. I think it would look cool as hell. Single belt...

    Missed on this combo?

Then how come replica is the only guy I've seen say it? And it's not even his car.... I've seen lots of guys be super happy with what they got.

    Missed on this combo?

I grasp what you are saying. You don't have any proof of inflated dyno numbers. I understand. I hate inflated dyno numbers too. But personally I'd rather have proof they are inflated before I call someone out and potentially ruin potential business. I've seen you make posts about MRL before...

    Missed on this combo?

No. What you said is "taken to a chassis dyno where I think they said they picked up 20 or 30 MORE horses". Which makes it sound like they picked power up over the engine dyno. See. Comprehension. So how much power did to make on the chassis dyno then? I still have yet to see any real graphs or...

    Missed on this combo?

Right. Additional power. From an engine dyno to a chassis dyno. Please explain that. Makes no sense. You're gunna lose probably 50-100 horse through the driveline. So how do you know you GAINED power when you're already losing it. I think maybe you need reading comprehension? Also. Yes. Super...

    Missed on this combo?

The only attitude here is yours. Which chases builders off the boards. They don't wanna tell us about their builds only to have someone say "well you know...." or "It didn't make that much power...". I want them to stick around and give us info. Especially info I don't have the time or ability...

No. Unfortunately he had to take another job for the health coverage. And I know several guys on here very happy with his motors and when they dyno'd they made the power he said they would. I've yet to see you post any proof of his "inflated" dyno numbers? So. I know which side I'm going to...

    Missed on this combo?

Glad to hear this hasn't got ya down! I'm curious to see what you come up with. I was just thinking you should try out a pair of them speedmaster CNC heads. When mike at MRL was building engines he used them on a few and made good power. They seem like an interesting alternative to the...
