sbp front disc swap for 73 dart w/ 10" drums

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. There is so much to consider. Amazing that one model year difference (73 vs 72 and down) clouds the water so much.

sbp front disc swap for 73 dart w/ 10" drums

That looks great, man. My car is a 73 though, just to be clear. Will this set up still work? Any other mods beside lower ball joint? And, do I get a lower ball joint for 73 or 72 and down? Alignment needed afterward? Lots of questions, but I want to do this once with no hassles or surprises...

sbp front disc swap for 73 dart w/ 10" drums

I'm looking to do a front disc conversion on my 73 Dart with 10" front drums. I want to maintain the sbp because I only want to swap the brakes and not the rear axle, wheels etc. I really like the 14' tire, white wall and wheel cover look and can't be bothered with the expense and hassle of...

What mileage does your slant six powered ride get?

In the fall 2016 I did a 5 week cross country trip (that included Route 66 ) from RI to California, part way up the Pacific Coast Highway then to Minnesota then home. 73 Dart with 1971 225, 2.76 rear, 904 trans, Holley 1920, points ignition, timing at 5 degrees, 205 75 14's. Car loaded with...

May be in over my head?

Amen, brother. The days of just running these cars without going through fuel and brake systems are over. (have been since the 90's ) Sometimes you just wanna hear it run though when you first drag it home. When I do a car these days, I replace all the things that could leave me walking unless...

May be in over my head?

Two things come to mind. Many years ago, when getting my 70 Charger running, it wasn't getting fuel to the carb. I replaced the pump and even the rod that activates it off the cam. Ran fine with an electric pump plumbed from a gas can with rubber hose, but . . . Anyway, even though the lines...

    1969 Daily Driver

Cool deal, man. Great score. There's something really cool about using these cars as intended for the seemingly mundane driving chores. It makes them less mundane and is such a treat to see my old mopar parked on a city street or shopping mall parking lot. I ditched my modern driver a few years...

Slant 6 pcv valve rattling issue

Dan, I checked out the link and it prodded me for application info. Said it won't fit a 71 Dart (my 73 has a 71 engine) Is this simply a new application part that happens to work in the old slants? I've got an ancient plastic elbow and metal base Fram pcv in mine and I've tried two of those...

Slant 6 road test in Dodge Dart 60-76 Book

Got me a copy of Dodge Dart 60-76 last week and I really enjoyed it, as I do road test books from most any American make. What made this all the more enjoyable is the fact that there were several road test reports of /6 powered cars, rather that just the more muscular models. It was interesting...

    DUSTER WORKPLACE SIGHTING

Nice! My first car was a 71 Duster. Not nearly as nice. Not nearly as special. Cuz it was 1984 and they were every where, and rotted to the gills around here. Kid scored big time. Great for him!!!

    Idle went nuts.

It might just be bouncing around on top of the intake valve. So, yeah, pull the intake and check. If you can't find it, off with it's head and pray the damage isn't too bad. Good luck. Al

    73 Dart /6 MPG

I have a 73 Dart with a 71 slant six, bone stock, no emissions crap, ign timing set at 10, 2.76 gears, auto, and 205/75/14 tires. Just got back a few weeks ago from a 38 day, 8,035 mile road trip. Car loaded down with parts, tools, luggage. Lots of cold starts. Some heavy city driving (Chicago...

    Front sway bar fit

Thanks for responses. I got home and checked my PST catalog and they list a different application for 73 to 76. I'll just buy a "round peg" rather than trying to modify my car to accept a "square peg" Al

    Front sway bar fit

I recently asked about a front sway bar for a 73 swinger not originally equipped with one and was PM'd my a member here with a very reasonable offer for a Dorman sway bar kit. Only problem is, the web site lists this part for application only up to 1972 and they don't list a front kit for 73 or...

I was born in the wrong era!!!!!!!

I used to think that I was born too late too. But not any more. Born in 67 I grew up in the 70's. still had cool Sat morning cartoons, bikes like Schwinn Stingrays etc. , no real tech so we'd be outside all the time etc. By the time I started driving in the mid 80's, most of my friends had...

Automatic Brakes Will Be in All Cars by 2022:

yup, scary ****. And folks eat it up. Heard one guy say he can't wait til the day cell phones are integrated into our bodies and run off brain waves. You and your damn phone should get a room.....and when you're done, OD on the crack you're obviously smoking. New car tech is incredible, power...

front sway bar for /6 swinger

Does anyone make a front sway bar for A bodies that didn't originally have them? Ones I've seen were just upgrades for cars already equipped with sway bars. Just rebuilt my front suspension and don't want to replace lower control arms. Thanks Al

    weight of '73 Duster

I'd agree. The bumpers brackets were beefed and reinforced to meet crash standards, plus all those new emissions components added weight too.

    Engine ID year

The /6 engine in my 73 Swinger is not original to the car as the vin doesn't match. The guy I bought it from said it was a 71 engine. It doesn't really matter in the long run, but I'd like to know. I googled it and read a few articles and posts on dating the motor but they didn't really help...

    Who likes strippers : ) ???

Awesome replies!!! And yeah, I was expecting a "Girls, Girls, Girls" stripper reply MUCH sooner. Never saw the stripper clip or wire strippers comment coming though! O:) Glad to see there are other like minded folks.O:) My first car was a 71 Duster. /6 auto with PS and nothing else. Rubber...

    What is it worth

Go for it. Wagons are cool. And rust free is huge. Make it mechanically sound and reliable and drive as is, not worrying about where you park it. Nice paint is over rated and a liability.

    Who likes strippers : ) ???

So, a few years ago I got on this retro, keep it simple, old school kick in response to the whole "electronics to do everything but wipe your ***" mentality of modern society. When my PC broke 3 years ago, I cancelled my internet service and got a library card for internet use. Let's face it...

    Radiator Dimensions?

I went to my parts guy (local family owned) and asked him about the new aluminum and plastic radiators. He said he'd sell me one for $350 with a lifetime warranty but that I'd better plan on yanking it every few years cause they're junk. He recommended a radiator shop and a re-core, so I checked...

    What carb is on a 73 198?

You need to get under the hood and check. I believe the numbers are on the back, at least if it's a 1920. There are lots of numbers there and they may be hard to read so you may need to clean the carb and use a mirror to see them. I looked the whole carb over and wrote down any number I could...

    Miles per gallon?

When I decided to get my Dart and sell my Saturn, gas was still slightly over $3 a gallon. I did the math based on the amount of driving I did each year, the difference in gas mileage between the two vehicles, and the cost of gas. Even with a conservative worse case scenario estimate of the...

3,400 mile road trip in 73 swinger

Wow, great stories!! Yeah, I love to drive em. Got nearly 40,000 on my 70 Charger over the past 11 years or so. Carlisle 7 times, the Nats twice, Road Atlanta once and Bristol Motor Speedway for Dukesfest once, plus a whole lotta backroad cruising. Kind of got the whole cruise night, show...
