Well dang it, I tried running the numbers again and came up with something closer to middle 15s. The unknown being your elevation but still, I missed it by more than I thought lol! Still impressive run though!

I guessed 16.45. I used the ‘Penalty Box’ to come up with that guess, plus added a couple tenths for assumed bad summer air. Of course I could have missed it by a little but wow, I think you bombed that index, good job!

I jumped ahead in the thread, maybe this has already been said…. but… you can say a guy that already has a good 340 core will say it’s a no brainer, build the 340, but same guy might realize two seconds later that he has $1500 sitting there and how far THAT would go in a 318 lol.

Yeah, I read it in the Mopar Performance book years ago and have no reason to doubt it, but I’m on the fence about now lol. IIRC, Uncle Tony said the power gain won’t show on a dyno test, but would in a car, and Richard says if it’s true, it WILL show up on a dyno because that’s what a dyno is...

My question is, are the performance aftermarket piston pins offset differently from a production piston to take advantage of this ‘power gain’? I honestly don’t know but I bet they would do it if there’s a gain to be had.

On one of his videos from a day or two ago he’s in a wrecking yard trying to find a 360 Magnum to test performance mods on and try the piston reversal idea. Should be fun!

Actually, if you go to the Dynamic calc page, there’s a ‘V/P Index Calculation’ icon below the fill in boxes, click that and go way down the page and below a chart is ‘their’ 340 example at 269 V/P. I used ‘their’ ICA, comp, etc.

Not to highjack the op but, AJ do you know why the V/P for the 340 example on the Wallace site is 269, but when you run the specs on their 340 example through their dynamic calc you get 124?

I did say the clock starts when the tire leaves the second ‘Staged’ beam in post 29. Thanks for your response. I thought it would be more, but if it’s only a couple hundredths difference in a typical 12 or 13 second car, that’s fine. I think this thread has run its course lol.

If I’m not mistaken and maybe I am, the clock starts when your tire leaves the second ‘Staged’ beam right? So, staging shallow plus the distance between the two beams would be a lot more than 6 inches wouldn’t it?
