what brand pinion angle shims should I purchase?

I recently purchased pinion shims from Calvert Racing (from Summit). I found them to be good quality for the price. They are machined, not cast.

    Small AC Compressor

Here is a pick of the Sanden SD-7B10 that I used, 67 Dart with a '73 and up crossmember. I found a donor "smog pump" bracket from the wrecking yard. I then beefed it up a little to use for the compressor. The inner belt groove will be used with the water pump and power steering pump. As you...

Convince me to put a TKX in my Dart

Great job on investigating this and following through with a solution!!! I did a TKO-600 install a while back (before there was the TKX) and fabbed up the top loop. I would have happily paid $170 instead.

What is this called (Dash seal???) and do I really need it?

Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback!!! I was out of town for a couple of days and wasn't able to reply earlier. I'm going to make a bigger effort to find them.

How many amps dose a mini starter draw?

I was planning to use the exact same fuse from Blue Sea. But, I just did a quick search and it looks like 300A is the max you can get. That might might be borderline OK. For my project I was thinking in the range of 350-450 amp fuse. You have to consider a "hot start" as well. Once the...

What is this called (Dash seal???) and do I really need it?

I'm working on a '67 Dart and I took a picture of this "dash seal" before doing paint. I'm not sure of the actual name for these. I took them off before painting and now I can't find them. Do I need them? Should I look harder to find them? I'm guessing they serve a purpose but it's not...

    Fuel tank paint

George Jets' tank look great! I've recently being thinking the same. I cleaned up an original tank that still had a decent "galvanized" look and sprayed it with a satin clear. The idea was to reduce the chance for rust but not have a glossy look.

    Wheel Size Question.

Hi 72bluNblu, On the Vision American Muscle 141 wheel, do you happen to know if there is an issue with the spindle nose protruding when using a stock '73+ front rotor? I see their specs say it has a 3.268 center bore, which is large enough, but it's hard to determine if the stock dust cap might...

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

Although not the cause of the poor brake performance, your parking brake cable connection under the dash is installed incorrectly as pointed out by Cal from Australia. Once you get the "real" problem figured out, you'll want to fix that.

Pushrod Rub (Intake side of head)

Good work!!! Similar to my experience with Edelbrock heads and the B3 kit. It took a few tries to get the clearance. I didn't have to remove as much material as you. Can you provide details on the rocker shaft studs you used? I checked around at one time but didn't find what I thought...

Porsche brembo caliper brake swap for 473$

I second that... Great job! I also think the angle iron should be more than adequate. There is usually a decent radius on the inside of the angle that helps with strength. But, as others already mentioned, it's worth keeping an eye on it.

    Battery Shut Off Switch

On my first trunk mounted battery project I switched the negative. Not a race car and seemed the easiest. On my new project (also not a race car) I plan to switch the positive because I want to use the switch as a theft deterrent on occasion but keep juice flowing to an alarm (and maybe the...

What do you recommend? Trunk Battery, like to put a inline fuse. what size?

My suggestion is to search the internet for 'MRBF Terminal Fuse Block'. They have various ratings up to 300 Amps. They are compact. It's a fuse instead of a circuit breaker, but it provides the protection you need to prevent a fire. You can always carry a spare fuse.

    Mopar Muscle is no more

I was in a similar situation, just renewed for 3 years and figured my money was gone. I called them, talked to a polite person and they refunded my money. It took about 5 weeks to receive a check. This was immediately after the announcement. Not sure there is any money left now but it might...

Sandin A/C and compact P/S pump brackets

I've heard the reference to a "peanut" compressor as well and came to the conclusion it applies to the Sanden SD-7B10. It's the shortest compressor I could find. I purchased one sold by Vintage Air. It's in their catalog (near the end) and shows dimensions. I was also interested in the lower...

    Oil Galley plugs at Camshaft

I took my own advice on my suggestion to YR. I'm working on my own stroker 340 and was doing some test fitting of parts and such. I went ahead and bolted on my oil pump, pan, added some oil and spun the oil pump with a drill. This is with NO galley plugs, just the cam plate (4 bolts). With...

    Oil Galley plugs at Camshaft

Hi YR, You might try spinning the oil pump when you have the timing cover off. If there are no plugs behind the cam plate I bet you will see oil squirting out. I did this and that's what happened to me (flat block and plate). Is it a lot of oil? No. But it will probably make a mess with the...

    LA Oiling Question

I'll stay out of the fight with regards to which opinion is right or wrong, but I'll share my personal experience on the cam plate and gallery plugs. I had a 340, HV oil pump and high pressure spring. No gallery plugs behind the cam plate. Engine ran fine, plenty of oil pressure, no problems...

New fuel system for the Dart

For what it's worth, I located a manual/wiring diagram for a '91 Ranger and the inertia switch is wired in series with the fuel pump. It's between the pump and the relay. If anyone considers doing it this way (inertia switch in series) then beware that a high capacity fuel pump is likely to...

New fuel system for the Dart

I am also planning to use the Ranger inertia switch as well on a similar electric pump setup. My current idea is to put it in the kick panel area. If you go this route, something to consider/investigate is whether the switch controls the fuel pump relay or is wired in series with the pump. I...

What solid roller lifters are you running in your LA non roller block

Hi Dart19666, Can you elaborate more on this? I'm thinking that if the portion of the lifter where the link bar attaches is on the piston side (for the reasons you describe) but the bar itself is rivited on the cam side, that will provide a little extra room between the link and the block...

Hi volume oil pump vs standard volume pump

Suction is just a way to describe "low pressure". At sea level atmospheric pressure us about 14.7 PSI. It's less at higher elevations. That's what is pushing the oil up the pickup tube to the oil pump. Thus, the larger the pickup tube the less restriction to flow and therefore more...

small block Edelbrock water pump experiences

Thanks for that feedback. I was thinking I might go to the parts store and see if they would let me measure one. The pump I'm working with/measuring from appears to be a genuine Mopar casting (it's probably been sitting around the garage for 20 years). It has the Pentastar logo and has a...

small block Edelbrock water pump experiences

I picked up a used Edelbrock water pump from a Mopar swap meet a while back. I'm finally getting around to installing it on my 340 stroker project in my '67 Dart (never been run yet). The problem is, the height of the various bolt holes does not match a factory style pump ('70 & up with...

Great job! Excellent work! I finished up fab work on a 67 Dart for a TKO-600 a few months ago. Looking at this makes the T56 Magnum more tempting. Hmmm... maybe next time.

I need a good Black wrinkle paint

Add me to the list of people that used the Harley wrinkle finish. It was many years ago and turned out good. Slightly uneven result, but that was likely my fault.
