    Irregular Rough Running

When did the problem start? Looks like a few new parts. Were these replaced trying to fix the problem, or did it start after replacing them?

Tear into it, or bolt in and go???

Just a driver? Drop the pan, check the bearings, timing chain and maybe a rear seal. Learned that one the hard way with an Olds 307Y that I put into an Electra I had from great aunt. Most other stuff can be done while the engine is in the car.

The mystery of the missing oil?

Mine had sat for years before the previous owners got it running again. First couple years it probably used a quart every 500 miles. It's better now, but suspect the valve stem seals have crumbled away. Probably only put 1500 miles on a year so I haven't done anything yet.

WHERE DID U PUT UR AFTERMARKET STEREO & SPEAKERS

I'll second the marine gauge pod radio. I have that same one too. The only thing I don't like about it is the push button up/down on the volume is a pain while driving with the top down. I've bought different with a rotary knob, but have yet to install it. Crutchfield has a several...

Issue with stalling when in gear

Did you rebuild the carb or is it a remanufactured one? Just because it was bought as a rebuilt, doesn't mean it was done right. My float on my 1920 was so far off, I'm surprised it even ran. If I recall the float was suppose to be set at about 3/16" and it was more like 3/4".

    67 Dart 273 swap to 383

Project creep, but with the engine out, might consider swapping the K frame due to the one year only idler arm. Also, what do you have for brakes?

Slant 6 in Buffalo NY Junkyard

No sticker, but the air cleaner looks big enough to be a super six setup.

    273 or 225?

Just another thought. I'm not familiar with the 273 at all, but it sounds like differences pre 65. I wouldn't depend on just the model year of the car with what actual 273 may be under the hood. Lots of time has passes since theses cars left the factory.

    Insurance claim

What are other used 2008s going for? 2800 seams like a low ball offer considering what the used market is now.

Can a power top be raised manually?

Should be some hitch pins on the pistons are shown. Might still have some issues getting the top to latch. My top has shrunk a bit and can be difficult to to latch if its been down too long or is cool outside. I've CAREFULLY taken some ratchet straps to the roof header and then to either the...

    Upper Radiator Hose

I think I had a similar issue when replacing my radiator when going from an 18" to 22". If I recall, I cut parts off the lower hose and used it for the upper.

    Retrosound Radio. YUCK 2/10

I don't want to cut may dash, so my current solution is adding a marine guage pod radio. Round, doesn't look out of place next to my tach, and doesn't have all kinds of flasing lights that look out of place on our cars. Has bluetooth and USB capablity.

Lower control arm bush 1961Plymouth Valiant

There's been a few threads on here about issues with the currently avaliable lower control arm bushings. If I recall, there were some issues with the ID of the inserts on the bushings and the OD of the pivot shaft. As much as NOS sounds like a good ieda, depending how old they are the...

Finally, I found insurance for my 70 Dart, that has no restrictions on use

No restrictions, as in using it as a daily driver? Sounds too cheap to me. What are your liablity limits? State minimum coverages are usually way too low. As much as I'm concerned about lossing my car, I'm more concerned of someone coming after my other assets (house, savings, etc) if I'm at...

1965 Dodge Dart stock differential advice

I know you want to keep things original, but do you have disc brakes up front? Have you though about upgrading? Might keep that in mind and go with BBP instead of SBP. I don't think the 8 1/4 ever came SBP.

    Seat tracks for a body

Floor pan changed a bit around 74 for catalytic converters and tracks also changed. I'm still trying to figure out the differerances. Looks like maybe need to make some adapter plates for my '68. Sound like the cat was on the drivers side, but at the moment it looks like the tracks are...

What's the best cheap engine stand for a slant six?

You said just to store, so do you really need a stand at this time? Maybe just some 2x4 and casters if you're just keeping it around. I really don't undertand why anyone would want a 3 legged, just too unstable especially moving it around. I had a 2.2 on one and it was very unstable. I've...

    Fab room ceiling height?

Thought about an I beam and a trolley hoist or gantry crane? Even an engine hoist, I'd make it taller than 8ft. What are you going to use the loft for? I think I'd figure the minimum height used in the loft and maximize the height on the ground floor. Maybe even consider the I...

    Parking brake on 74 Duster

While I agree with not removing the parking break, I understand why people don't use them and therefore want to remove them. I live in the rust belt and these cables tended to rust up, not release and cause all sorts of problems. I was amazed that they worked on my car after 50 years, but...

    Ball Joint Boots

How well do these fit? Do they seal as well as the originals with the "spring" in the base? Years ago I RTVd some baby nipples to what was left after tearing them up with a pickle fork.

    More 3.6 carnage

My Grand Caravan started ticking around 140K and noticed some sparkle in the oil when I changed it. Bought used with 109K and a stack of synthetic oil change reciepts. Late last summer with almost 170K it broke a valve spring! Replaced the spring and the loose cam follower (which was on a...

Well I think the "fridge" is dying.

Had a fan die on one once. Also, like the deforst timer idea. Once the door got left open and the coils tuned into a block of ice. Unplugged it, iced melted and never had another problem.

    Very impressed with gas mileage

Verify the odometer againast a GPS. Suprisingly my odoometer is quite accurate. The speedometer is all over the place. My stock '68 225 with 145K has been a consistant 18.5 MPG in mixed driving after a real good tune up (valve lash, float level set, weights in distributor not stuck, vac...
