    340 advice

I'm just about ready to install a 340 in my 1965 b body. Car has power steering, no AC, it has manual disc brakes up front drums out back. The motor has a little hotter than stock cam and a high rise dual plane edlebrock intake, but thats about all the mods that have been done to it. I need...

I forgot to ask what year your 727 is? Is it cable or linkage shift?

    [WANTED] Small block 727

Interested. I should know early this upcoming week which way I go. I would be interested in your items no matter what. By the way, do you have any idea if the 2500 stall converter will fit the 904-340 combo I am considering?

    [WANTED] Small block 727

At this time, considering all the replies I have gotten, I am leaning towards keeping the 904 and rebuilding it. Retaining the cable shift was NOT a priority, but now If I stay with the current 904 set-up, I save myself time and money if I do not have to make the conversion to linkage.

    [WANTED] Small block 727

Trans shop rebuilds mostly rebuilds the modern stuff. They were more of a speed shop 20-30 year ago. He did say He would buy any 727 cores He can get His hands on! He knows there is a market for them. I just might try and locate a few and barter a 904 rebuild!

    [WANTED] Small block 727

Yeah, I have been told that, but the trans shop owner was skeptical. He is going to do his research and get back to Me. Ideally, keeping the 904 would save me a lot of other things I would need to change. The car and tranny are 1965 273 v-8 904, cable shift on the column set up, swapping in the...

    340 exhaust manifolds

It is not an original 340 car. I am replacing a 273. So I am not going for originality. I felt that getting a set of original manifolds would make things easier, so yeah, i do not want to mess with headers at this time, however, if someone could make me a believer that there is a manufacturer...

    340 exhaust manifolds

I recently bought a running 1970 340 to put in place of a 273. It had headers and the seller kept them. I am looking for factory exhaust manifolds. But first a question or two. Other than a,b,e body style manifolds, was there a difference in manifolds? It seems to me that I have seen a couple...

    engine shipping

I am considering buying a motor that I seen posted for sale on a mopar web site. The seller is on the east coast. I live in Wisconsin and would need it shipped here. I have not started the process of lining up a shipper, I think shipping by weight would kill me (asking price for motor is$1200) I...

    273 warm up!

It sounds like the gains of the things mentioned above will not break the bank but i may not be very satisfied, so in the end they are not cost effective. I think I'll be putting more effort in finding a 340 or 360.

    273 warm up!

Hi again toolman mike. so if i find a set of 302 heads, will that be an improvement...will it up my compression? Then I'll have to get a new intake,( and carb) which I am ok with.

[FOR SALE] 408ci 360 stroker with 904, radiator, headers and exhaust

Hi Aaron, I was wondering if you pulled the pan and checked the crank? The casting number you provided for the heads says they are 318 heads. Do you have any info from previous owner if larger valves were put in? Any port work done? By the way, nice looking Valiant!

    273 warm up!

I don't recall the compression figures...they were within factory specs before the heads were redone, except for number 3 cylinder, which had a burned valve and a bent push rod. I will have to recheck the compression when I get the car out of storeage in a week or two, and recheck it with the...

    273 warm up!

My intent is to drive this car as often as possible in the summer (I am in Wisconsin) I may take a couple passes at...

    273 warm up!

That's right. I did buy the correct intake for this motor. But, when I had the heads done( burned valve ) that is when I should have gotten a nice set of 318 heads and then just about any sbm intake would have bolted up to that. It would have opened up my options. I suppose I still could go that...

    273 warm up!

I have a 1965 273 2bbl standard bore and compression with original heads/rebuilt. I recently acquired a factory 4bbl intake, casting number 2465726. My goal is to get better performance without swapping motors. I was planning on adding a cam and headers and probably better ignition. I know there...
