Have decided to run the one I have in this 727- B T Flite. Most guys around here are saying the 727-A and the 727-B converters are interchangeable. Looks like the flex plate is the difference. The 727-A probably uses the 5/16 bolts.

Is the difference on the input shaft splines?

This is definitively a 727 for a big block. Plus the plate fits the converter, and the crankshaft. I'll check to see if the converter fits into the tranny splines ok.

Are the 5/16 bolts strong enough for a 512 stroker motor?

I've lined up the flex plate and converter, both 10" across for opposing bolts. The flex plate bolt holes are a diameter of 3/8. Small Bolt on left fits the T Converter . One on right fits the flex plate. So should I re tap the converter to accept the larger 3/8-16 bolt?

Got the new Moog arm put in today. It is really tight! No play at all. Couldn't even rotate the arm in the bushing, until i had it clamped into the K frame. And then, only by turning the steering wheel. I looked at it while the wheel was spun back and forth, and it is rotating on the bushing...

The 1 in the car appears new, but has a bushing in there. When i clamp the center sleeve in a vise, the other end of the arm still has some play. Ordered a Moog K 7042, we'll see how that works out. Hopefully has a bearing. Its called the problem solver.

Right, the cheap China made ones don't work very well. I ordered a Moog, see how that goes.

72 Dart has a similar set up. Large end of idler arm is clamped between the 2 tabs on the K member.

72 Dodge Dart, Idler arm looks new, but has play in the bearing where it attaches to the K Member. What brand would be the better one to use? Summit has a Pro Form part (102-10035) that looks good. Has anyone tried these? Or maybe a repair kit using roller bearings? Ok thanks for the help...

The tabs on the frame have to clamp against the INNER metal tube on the idler arm for it to work properly. So the washers have to sit between the frame and inner metal tube. The bearing sleeve is between the tube and the idler arm. Many of the new cheap ones have loose sleeves from the factory...

Checking it with a B Room scale, comes to 42.5 lbs. I was guessing 44. If a F Glass hood for an A Body weighs 15 lbs (guessing), that makes this one about 27.5 lbs heavier than a F Glass hood. In my case, with the big 440 under the hood of that 70 Dart, add headers and the blower, just too much under there. Also had an auto spark retard. I opted for the simpler,, basic 440. Spark plugs and alt were hard to get to.. That 440 ran pretty good in stock form.

72 Dart Swinger, wanted to make it into a lift off hood. I'm always workin on the 318, so removing the hood makes access so much easier. I removed the hinges (no small task), then I cut around the perimeter of the metal bracing. Removing this metal made the hood lighter. So now I'm ready to...

Should be able to. Remove the hood, then shine a small flashlight in there and spot the retainers. On the driver side I did remove the door, leaving the door hinges bolted to the body. This worked good too, but it does take some time. Removing the door improves access to the retainers.
