Going to install a 6-71 on a mild 400 with forged pistons and Edelbrock heads. My question is should/can I run a harmonic balancer on it or just run a hub? Will be for nostalgia races only and yes it is externally balanced motor right now.

Anybody running a 470 ci (400 with 440 crank (3.915) and a 6.535 rod with big compression (14.0-15.0)? If so what piston did you use? Trying to find an off the shelf piston so I don't have to spend big bucks on custom.

Does it matter if pump is installed with trans laying parallel or does it need to be straight up and down on its end??

I actually just changed the pump part and re-used the hub part because the hub was a little different.

Figured out that the pump bushing was gone in my trans that was the culprit. Re-assembled with same fiber washer on a different pump as had .062 end play before I disassembled. Now when I install and tighten pump bolts with same washer it I have zero shaft end play. What gives?? Should a try a...
