    Teenagers suck

Yep,parts are on him this time. As is most of the wrenching. Dad will be the welder and instructor only this time.

    Teenagers suck

My kid crashed his jeep again. This time it could have gone bad and he was lucky to only mangle the jeep. Now I know why everyone was so pissed off at me all the time when I was a teenager.

    Banned from Facebook!!!!! Rant!

I've had roughly 40 Facebook accounts banned. The most in one day was four. That was for posting footage proving Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self defense Marketplace has become a bigger **** show than Craigslist ever was. I've completely given up on Facebook as a useful product

What is wrong with this picture?

Cuz consumers are sucker's. I grew up around circle track racing. Of I put another man's name on my back or my car he is paying fir the privilege. I make exceptions for bands though.

    5.2/5.9 H.P build guesstimate

Agreed. But I just think it is important to know not to trust published compression ratings when choosing other parts for a combo.

    5.2/5.9 H.P build guesstimate

I love magnum 5.9's but are the magnums a legit 9:1? Every one I've pulled apart has a dished piston about .040 down below deck height?

    5.2/5.9 H.P build guesstimate

Oh no doubt. More gear and a better convertor would fix a lot of the lack of power off the light. But wouldnt that mostly because these would allow the engine to Rev quicker into its preferred power band? It is hard to make suggestions to other people when ever if they give certain goals they...

    5.2/5.9 H.P build guesstimate

It is worth mentioning the 280h cam selected for the 318 build will be a dog on the bottom end if you don't follow the rest of the build and the compression up. Years ago we used that in a 350 chebbie with stock low compression pistons and a stock converter in an 81 pontiac grand prix with 373...

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

I loved 318's when they were 25 bucks and all I had were slant sixes. Now days I can't help but see them as a waste of cash.

OE magnum heads versus speedmaster LA heads

I'm curious has anyone compared stock magnum heads to "as cast" speedmaster LA heads on a flow bench?

if i build a BUDGET 360.... LA Vs Magnum 5.9

Here is what I spent on the last magnum swap I did but with car oil pan added for your application. The engine was essentially free after I scrapped the truck it was in. I won't do the EQ heads again. I just don't see the bang for the buck. Car Oil pan 65.00 Car oil pickup 25.00 Gasket...

    So how sad is this

I'm sitting in my office thinking about my kid going off to trade school and how I magically got old overnight. Then Limpbizkit break stuff starts playing and I instantly throw bith middle fingers in the air and start singing along. Jjust like I did when the song was new and I was a 20 something...

Keeping my 273 commando cooler during these record hot temperatures

While admittedly I'm not in the same climate as you my experience is that mopar stuff is significantly cooler running than gm or Ford stuff of the era. So much so that in the 80's it was commonplace to put a 195 Stat and a restriction in the bypass on small block Chrysler in order to make any...

if i build a BUDGET 360.... LA Vs Magnum 5.9

If you are an LS guy I'm assuming you don't mind fuel injection. The factory Chrysler stuff is really reliable. Hp tuners can now modify the jtec computers. Honestly a good running 318 in an a body is peppy and fun driver.

318LA/906 SBE build it OR go Big block?

Oh I forgot to add. I built a 74 dart with a 440. I don't think I'd ever do another one. For street car the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. I think I could put together a similar performing 5.9 swap for less money and hassle.

if i build a BUDGET 360.... LA Vs Magnum 5.9

About 700 bucks for rebuilder type stuff off ebay with free shipping. I doubt a local machine shop would be any cheaper. I wasn't aware speednaster was doing magnum heads.

if i build a BUDGET 360.... LA Vs Magnum 5.9

True but they still run and run good. My take is do the swap with lapped velves and new seals and the Hughes spring kit. Later upgrade cylinder heads. LA's are all okd and need seat and guide work by now also so in my mind that's a wash between LA and magnum engines.

if i build a BUDGET 360.... LA Vs Magnum 5.9

I have done a couple magnum swaps. Probably cheaper than most. I buy a truck. Rusted rotted junk for 300 to 800 bucks. Pull the engine, flex plate, starter, and anything else worth saving. Sell any parts that you can sell of the truck quick and easy. Scrap the rest for most of your money...

273 swap to 318/ build, cost, potential, daily driver

Stock magnum 5.9 with chinese air gap intake is the most cost effective solution for a massive increase in torque.

    360 Over heating

Clutch fans are phenomenal for your sort of build. I'd run one and ditch the electric fan.

    Is anyone rich here?

That is happening across the country but where you are misinformed is who owns these rentals. It is not the mom and pops like the O.P. that own half a dozen rentals who can afford to let them sit. It is the **** eating corporations and wall street investment funds. If they don't make a profit...

    Is anyone rich here?

I'm not rich. The only thing I can add to this is do not have debt. Do not pay interest on any debt. Typically the interest you pay is more than you make saving. I myself took way too long to figure that out

    Unorthodox methods?

When I worked in an exhaust shop pipe was free. I built more seel/bearing drivers than I could shake a stick at. Inner tie rod sockets and 4wd wheel bearing sockets as well. I built an engine support to hold up the engine in front drive cars so I could remove trannies and cross members. I...

    Unorthodox methods?

Mt kid says I don't do anything the "normal way" but I'm so used to it nothing sticks out as unorthodox to me. The one that freaked him out the most was when I told him I used pieces of my erector set to make kickdown linkage for my super six swap as a teenager.

Manifold Vacuum Advance what am I not getting?

Yeah. I believe that is the conventional wisdom now. I don't suppose I would respond well to a wet behind the ears teenager telling me I'm doing it wrong at thos stage of my life. So I don't blame them. But when everyone else was boozing and getting laid In high school I was reading everything...

Manifold Vacuum Advance what am I not getting?

I will happily capitulate. You clearly have more knowledge on the subject than I do. But this is the case in which I personally have used manifold vacuum for the advance as a benefit. On the dirt track cars I played with the "wisdom" was to lock the distributor solid. Personally I thought this...

    Ball joint drop brackets?

Yeah,it has been decades since I had any suspension theory or even wirked on a circle rack car so I've forgotten most of it. His experience with sway bar sizing mirrored my own. But I just can drop my head around this ball joint drop. If I could buy or build these brackets cheaply I wouldn't be...
