    [FOR SALE] 1972 Demon 340

1972 Demon 340. Intake, carb, and headers are the only non original parts on the car, but I do have the originals. Has some character, but hands down has got to be one of the cleanest unrestored cars you're ever going to find. Also has some good history as I was able to get every owner of this...

It took a little leg work, but I was actually able to track down every owner of my car and get them all at the same show for a picture!

Can you straighten out the bottom of the broadcast sheet, or post a pic of the fender tag? I can help with the decoding a bit

    Another straggler followed me home!

Now, I'm no handwriting expert, but I'm gonna guess that car came out of Hamtramck haha. Looks an awful lot like the writing on mine!

    cooling not so cool

Chances are the radiator got painted up nice on the outside, but has 40 years worth of scaling and corrosion in the core. You will even see simetimes where they will still flow, but the buildup acts as an insulator and you coolant passes right on through the core without dissipating enough heat...

    Looking for the Gurus

I will have the opportunity in a few weeks to talk with the dealer that sold it, and although I doubt he remembers this exact car, there's always a chance!

Good luck getting Galen to respond, though. I've been waiting 4 months just to get an email response. I've heard of people not getting any info from him for over a year

Thanks! I feel pretty lucky to have stumbled into a survivor car like this. I'm starting to think there can't be more than a handful of cars left that are still in their factory Basin Street Blue paint.

    Torsion bars

I'm afraid this isn't going to help, but here it is haha. Dave uses "preload" to define the extra unspringing travel distance gained by using a lighter spring and then adjusting the spring platform to achieve ride height. Not more energy, but more distance traveled using the same energy.

    Torsion bars

He does still have it! I'll pick it up and get back to ya tomorrow

    Torsion bars

I just looked for it a bit, but I believe I loaned it to a buddy as he backhalved and 4-linked his ranger like 10 years ago. I'll see if he still has it

Yes. Door Slammers was our textbook for that class

    Torsion bars

I believe that the book you are referencing is one of the textbooks I had I my Hi-Po drivelines class in college. And you are right, it has a lot of valuable information. I just feel like you are misunderstanding the stored energy part. Light rate springs release their energy through a longer...

    Torsion bars

Ugh. Yellow, you are close, but you've got to get the "different amount of stored energy" thing out of your head. 72blu is right that both a light and a heavy spring rate have the same amount of stored energy ( the weight of the car) The difference is that the lighter spring rate will assist in...

Haha thanks! the traction bare are gone now. They were on there when the car had Cragers on it, but didn't look appropriate when I went back to the original rallyes

    Looking for the Gurus

Ya, I know that it wasn't suspension related. I was under the impression that the "Special Handling" callout was used as an indicator for the assembly line that some combination of colors or options was different than usual. I'm not sure why the uploads are so crappy... the pictures are clear as...
