19 to 24 spline input shaft swap

Update: I received word from Pat Blais, ol' "Tflitepatty" himself, that there is a channel between the steel sealing rings in the rear clutch retainer. You can see the difference in the OD of the input shaft where the hole is above the splines and the ID of the clutch retainer where those holes...

19 to 24 spline input shaft swap

Hey everyone, I'm working on a 1963 pushbutton 727 and swapping the input shaft and reaction shaft support to use a 24-spline torque converter. I have pressed out both input shafts from the rear clutch retainers, but didn't pay attention to the orientation of the oil feed holes. Should these be...

I bought a Champion Radiator off ebay for my '64 /6 and it went in with no issues at all. I don't drive my Dart a whole lot, but the radiator cools just fine and all the welds looked good to me.

Early abody front window rubber seal

Were they chrome originally? I have a '64 Dart and mine is plain rubber. I'd almost prefer it to be just plain since there's all of the other stainless/chrome around the windshield on a convertible.

New 1964 owner with many questions

eBay has a lot of trim for the '64s on there now, but it's expensive. The hood latch is outside under the front of the hood in the middle, that's the way it was in '64 for all Mopars. You may want to post any 1964-specific questions under the "Early A body" forum since that's where us early A...

Pushbutton Trans leak - stripped bolt?

My pushbutton 904 transmission (1964 Dodge Dart vert, /6, 904, 7.25) has some leaks that I am working on tracking down. One really bad leak is coming from the bolt going into the rear of the transmission above the park cable housing. I tried to turn this bolt to tighten it, but it just spins...

    904 cable replacement '65

    1) Yes, it is possible to do this from under the car with the engine and trans in the car still. Just need some jack stands to get under there. 2) No, nothing will shoot across the garage. I couldn't get my cable out of the housing when I was trying to fix a leak around the park cable housing...

how to disconnect shift/park cables at button end

I ended up getting a straight screwdriver in behind the ferrule on the cable and pried out enough to open the "fingers" holding the cable. On the reverse, a pair of pliers bent those fingers back into place when I was done switching out the shift buttons.

Local Craigslist score - BBP 7-1/4"

I scored a '73 7-1/4" rear axle off Craigslist last week. It came from a disc brake, 318 automatic car, so it has the 10" backing plates. $50. CTC Auto Ranch north of Dallas/Fort Worth wanted $450 for a big bolt pattern rear axle (not sure if that was 7-1/4" or 8-1/4"), so I think this was a...

1964 Dart GT convertible back seat

The seat frame is the right width, but it seems like it's too deep. I had the seat out last night putting some rear seat belts in for the kids. 68 Dart hardtop window trim

I can’t seem to find that this trim is being reproduced. On the car that I am considering buying, the trim is missing from the door and quarter windows on the passenger side, so there is an open gap about 3/4” wide between the two pieces of glass. Can anyone tell me what years/models will...

    Newb from Fort Worth

I'm looking at a '68 Dart, so I believe it has the small bolt pattern and a 7-1/4" rear even though it has a 318-2bbl. I assume it's a 904 transmission as well. It's just a little different than I'm used to. :)

    Newb from Fort Worth

Hello. I'm a newb from Fort Worth, TX. I grew up in a Mopar house hearing lots of stories about my stepdad's Duster and Polara and his brother's AAR Cuda and the crazy times had with those cars. My first car was a 1964 Chrysler Newport back in 1996, so I love all Mopars and am most familiar with...
