I put the AVS2 650 on my 340 and it ran good but thought it could run better. I went ahead and bought the #1948 tune kit, changed the jets, rods, and step up springs and wow! did that wake it up.
Checked the description on Rock Auto for this Moog bushing. It says the ID is .810 but apparently that's wrong. It's .813 on the ones I got. I think Moog probably isn't what it used to be.
Think I'll return them and get something different. My pins are in perfect shape and measure .810 which is what they should measure. The bushings are probably just oversize a little. Probably should be around .807-.808 guessing. Thanks guys.
Went to press pivot pin in lca bushing Moog (K791) from Rock Auto but the pin just slides in. Measured both, the pin measures .810 but the bushing ID measures .813. My question is, should they always press in. Do I have bad Moog bushings, they are brand new. Thanks
Started front end rebuild on the 69 Dart. Got a 12 ton press from Harbor Freight for $103.00 I'm using for the bushings. Going to do my 66 Coronet next. Not as bad as I thought thanks to this forum.
If you use air to hold valves up make sure to secure crank from turning. I used a breaker bar and socket on my harmonic balancer bolt clamped to k frame. The engine will turn when you apply air. Don't want those valves falling into cylinder. Works great for me.
I bought a 3oz can of the new F8 from the dealer to touch up a spot in my engine compartment, It's much lighter than the original F8. Would not use it on the outside for older F8 paint if you need a good match.
I understand, I wanted to ad a 1/2" spacer but can't because of room. I have about 1/4" of space under hood. If not for the torque strap I would probably hit on acceleration. I guess I could see if there's one with a lower drop. Good luck with your decision. Hope you find something that works well.
I really don't have the equipment to make this repair and I don't want to give it to someone that don't know what their doing. Now I have some knowledge before turning it over to someone. Thanks
69 Dart Swinger 340 4 spd I just got a couple days ago. They said it was all original and Vin# does match block which has a 68 casting date. It has been restored so who knows.
