    Dad’s 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340

Working on the gauge cluster. 3 gauges were giving fits. Temp and Fuel gauges were not working at all. Speedometer was working, but getting stuck and wouldnt drop back to zero - or past 40MPH for that matter. Pulled the gauge cluster and tested the gauges individually. Fuel gauge works but...

Temp and fuel gauges no bueno

Another note... oddly enough, the temp gauge from the ebay cluster had a different configuration than the original gauges in our car... its as if the assembly was upside down and flipped. The gauge I ended up being able to use though matches the configuration of the original temp gauge, so...

Temp and fuel gauges no bueno

So I was able to score an entire gauge cluster off ebay. Two chances to get a single good gauge. Pulled the temp and fuel gauges. Looked at the temp gauge first... that thing is crispy, and the filament is broken. Pulled the fuel gauge apart and it looks nice and clean, and the filament is...

Temp and fuel gauges no bueno

@MoparMike1974 stock style aftermarket. Depending on the brand, it could be reading correctly. I’ll stick it back on the car and see how it behaves. Like I said, I was using an 18 ohm resistor. It shouldn’t have read full. pulled the temp gauge apart. I see the broken filament. Is there any...

Temp and fuel gauges no bueno

Okay update. I took out the cluster to bench test. The pins were tight and getting good connection, but I soldered them for added peace of mind, I checked continuity on all 3 pins at play, and all is checking fine. I tested the fuel gauge, and it reads about 3/4 with a 18ohm resistor. The temp...

    [Found!] Prestolite LO horn

Evidently these damn things take special 5/16 bolts because a regular 5/16 bolt got stuck. And I cant get it out. So it’s dead. I need another one.

    Clutch pedal hitting… something

Should it be hitting what I can only think is a flange for a brake stop bumper?

    Clutch pedal hitting… something

1969 Dart. Original 4 speed car. Dad was concerned the clutch wasn’t properly adjusted because there was no free play at the top. He had one of these cars long ago and knows them well. I looked under the dash and found a “spur” on the clutch pedal was hitting a flange. I think the flange is...

Temp and fuel gauges no bueno

Finishing up odds and ends on dads 69 Dart. One of those is to get the temp and fuel gauges working. I went through all of the engine wiring, so I know the wiring for the temp gauge is good and hooked up. Let’s start there. I have the regulator in hand. I am testing it with a 12V power...

    Dad’s 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340

We are doing steel wheels with dog dish caps. The wheels are going to be body color, while the caps will be the black metallic accent I have used elsewhere. Acquired the rims from a forum member. They have really nice tires on them too, so as soon as the rims are finished being painted, we...

How To Replace Trunk Torsion Springs with Lift Struts

So I will chime back in with my results. The 150lbs were good for the back. Maybe a bit heavy, but no problems closing the trunk. The 150lbs on the front are just barely enough to hold the hood open. I would have liked to have 180 on the front, but its all installed, so we will live with...
