    A-body 8-3/4 drums

My Mom's old 71 Duster 340 from middle Georgia had the wings. A 69 Dart 8 3/4 rear I got from can't remember where did not have them.

I have forgotten how to remove these headers.

Don't know about a big block, or a later A, but when I had fender-well headers in my 65 Barracuda, all I had to do was unbolt them from the heads and from the exhaust pipes and lift them out. (Maybe remove the M/C, can't remember.) Easiest headers to remove ever.

Show me your under hood throttle/kickdown setups

Yes, the OP's problem wasn't the pedal, it was where on the carb the linkage was hooked up. I see this all the time. If you think about it, you'll see that wherever you mount the cable on the carb, its travel describes an arc. How long that arc is depends on where on the carb the linkage is...

Started cut and buff on my friend’s Powerhawk

62 Hawk would have been a GT (Gran Turismo) Hawk, and would have had a 289 - 2 barrel, 4-barrel, or supercharged. GT Hawks were basically the same body as the 56 Hawks, but note the different roof (copied from the late fifties - early sixties Thunderbirds).

Started cut and buff on my friend’s Powerhawk

Power Hawk was a one year only model. Sedan body, 259 V8. 56 Sky Hawks and Golden Hawks were hardtops. Sky Hawk was 289, Golden Hawk was (for this one year only) a 352 inch Packard Clipper V8. Below the Power Hawk was the Flight Hawk, also a sedan, with a 186 inch flathead six: Sky...

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

Just to update a bit, I took my 67 Barracuda to the strip a couple of months ago. I went from 13.70s at 98 with stock 340 hi-po manifolds, 2.25 exhaust and 3.23 gears to 13.07 at 106.5 with TTI headers, 2.5 inch exhaust and 3.55 gears. Both times through the mufflers. With a pretty dinky cam...

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

From a 1966 Speed Equipment Company catalog circa 1966. Isky is already getting away from the 3/4, 3/4 full and full race terms, having Road and Drag and Super Road and Drag, plus "Magnum" and "Magnum Super Le Gerra," etc., but still uses the terms "3/4" and "3/4 full." Below is a partial...

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

The "3/4 cam" didn't come from ignorant teenagers, but from the cam makers themselves. Today, it is a completely outdated term, and meaningless with regard to modern cams.

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

I have a few sixties speed equipment catalogs. There were full race cams, 3/4 race cams, 3/4 full cams. Had nothing to do with 3/4 mile tracks; 3/4 was hotter than stock, milder than full race. The terms date back to the flathead Ford V8 days. Instead of trying to copy a page out of one of...

    1966 Valiant Tail lights

66 Barracuda has the backup light in the middle, Valiant has it at the bottom. Its backup lense is also plainer than the Barracuda's.

    1966 Valiant Tail lights

Ok, Schimmel does have the Barracuda lenses, too.

66 Valiant and Barracuda lenses aren't the same. These look like Valiant lenses

Headers for 67 barracuda 318 with no modifications

Agree. Plus, they will already be there if and when the OP decides to upgrade that stock 318.

Headers for 67 barracuda 318 with no modifications

I've got 2.5 inch tailpipes on my 67. Reproduction 67 tank with original tank strap. No clearance problem. 360, TTI headers and TTI 2.5 inch X-pipe exhaust.

    1965 Offenhauser 273!

I agree. It's one of the best looking air cleaners ever. Probably too small for a high horsepower motor, but more than enough for a less than 300 cube motor. Shoot, Chrysler put them on some four barrel big blocks in the early sixties - 361s all the way up to 413s (only they were painted...

    1965 Offenhauser 273!

OK, but I like the chrome one better. See post #20. The one above is for later 340s etc, so not like the original 65 in any event, but the original 65 four barrel air cleaner was chrome.

    1965 Offenhauser 273!

This one is a copy of the mid-sixties FORD air cleaner. Xnay on that one. Edit: I forgot I had already identified this one in post #39.

Original unrestored 1948 Dodge dealer service truck NOT MINE

OK, not an A body, but what a history! Bought new by the owner of a DeSoto/Plymouth dealer in Dadeville, Alabama. Used as the dealer service truck from 1948 until Plymouth production ceased, sold in 1991. Just returned to the original family last year, when the original owner's great grandson...

    Seriously wrong Car Identifications ?????????

Studebaker guy took his Stude to a local guy who has built some stout Chevy motors. After studying the Stude's 289 (Studebaker) engine, he went to the local parts store and bought a bunch of parts for a fifties Y-block Ford. None of them fit, of course.

    67 Cuda Formula S commando V8

Interesting. My 67 Barracuda has always had a vacuum gauge, and it was originally a bench-seat, column-shift slant six car with very few options - automatic transmission, radio, heater and whitewalls were about it. PS, just as I was about to post this, I said, wait a minute - am I sure about...

Just as slow as before my mods..

Fifty years ago, when my 65 Barracuda reached 100,000 miles or so, I had to learn mechanical skills because I got tired of my car running worse after service than when I took it in. I had to wean myself from my Dad's advice to "let the professionals work on it." I've made my share of mistakes...

Dodge Dart Seneca for sale NOT MINE

They do make metalflake steering wheels, but the grip is like a rubberized plastic. Nice, and I have two, but they aren't the hard translucent plastic of some of the old Mopar wheels.

Dodge Dart Seneca for sale NOT MINE

True, but they weren't as big a slug as the old flathead six they replaced.
