Does anyone like 4 door A body mopes?

I "terrorized" the streets and the track with my 73 Valiant "FoDo" with a slant six turbo years ago... I would drive her to race at Maple Grove, South Mountain, Numedia and Beaver Springs dragways - then drove it home..

    Whaddya think about these plugs?

Another fun option would be to leave it as is and re-install these plugs. Then install a hotter coil and perhaps an MSD6, then check the plugs again and compare with another picture! Perhaps the idle issue would change. Agree with others about the carb issues.

Fully Built 225 Slant Six Pricing Question

Slants are known for their durability. Put a turbo on it. My set up in the early 1990's was a simple draw through 600cfm vac secondary that I would drive to the various local strips here in S.E. Pa. No issues. Had fun pissing off Vetts and Stangs. Have fun with a challenge is the key.

will it hurt. whats your opinion

in the end, do what you want and have fun. Pull it apart, inspect, measure and appreciate the slide rule engineering.. Hell, years ago i cut the pushrod end off the stock slant six rocker arm off and then rewelded it back on to increase the ratio on a .460 lift cam. Enjoy. Your path is your own.

    Buying a car without keys

I faintly remember finding a small spring loaded button on the ignition switch that when pressed would allow the guts of the switch to be removed. Don't know if this helps.

    Preferred Coolant Temps

I am old school. I say, install a thermostatic fan control, with an over ride switch. Remove and sell the electric pump and return everything to stock because it works and have fun racing. Most important is to know your oil sump temperature. I had a temp bulb in the sump of my turbo slant six...

340 Help. Am I looking in the right spot to fix the issue

What are you using to control the distributor / ignition? Electronic distributor I assume so, are any ignition wires coming in contact with control wires for the distributor? I remember back when there were warnings about certain ECU's that were to be avoided when wanting performance. So, if...

Broke my water pump bolt. Now what? (Update - broken bolt is out)

The bolt shank will turn red and expand in the cast iron long before any damage to cast The Idea is to then let the bolt cool, or spray your favorite oil to quench the temperature down. Bolt will shrink away from cast thread bore. As always, it helps to have a torch set with brazing tips for...

Broke my water pump bolt. Now what? (Update - broken bolt is out)

After spending over 40 years in maintenance in the food industry, I have seen many mechanics heat the broken bolt and then quickly grab hot softened steel and try to turn it. The result is obvious, it doesn't work! Heat the bolt red hot as best as you can and walk away, let it cool and shrink...

318 runs real load and shakes like crazy

#5 and #7 sparkplug wires look reversed... Simple check to verify... Twice! ALSO. At the 18 second mark of your video, the #1 ignition cable MIGHT be touching the twisted wires that control your distributor. This is a big no-no as this can induce a random, uncontrolled signal that can fire the...

Can't seem to catch a break

Until you find the issue, there is no need to rotate the entire engine for testing. Use a drill!!! Re-instal the problem lifters, the intake off. Observe engine valley while running the drill. Hell, if you can do it, don't even install the pushrods.

    MORE VALVE TRAIN QUESTIONS................

No heat required. I slid a 3/8" box wrench over the ball end of the rod - down to the back side of the cup, then tighten the ball end into a drill press chuck to hold it. Then tap the wrench with a small hammer and the cup will come off the the rod tube. You can use the drill press to reassemble...

    MORE VALVE TRAIN QUESTIONS................

Direct Connection (I'm aged), had sold a pushrod kit that had the cups separate, allowing you to trim the tubes to size then drill for a light interference fit of the cup stem. I have taken them apart before, trimmed to size and reinserted the cups with a drop of blue Loctite. The cup stem...

    MORE VALVE TRAIN QUESTIONS................

5/16" ball in a 5/16" cup, not 3/8" cup, correct? Sounds dumb, but I have seen dumber... Why buy new rods when you could just remove cups and trim the rod if needed?

    Goodbye Torqstorm, hello Spoolius Ceasar

Sounds nice! Have you considered installing an exhaust pressure gauge? Some interesting info to be gained as you go forward with any modifications. From the turbine inlet, secure a 2 foot length of 3/16th brake tubing, cut the flair off one end and slid some hose over it then ran to the 30psi gauge.

Stroker Motor wont Rev pass 5200Rpm

Definitely try to see what your exhaust pressure is at max intake boost, even after you fix this issue. I increased my spring seat pressures by the IN and Ex pressures times the areas of the IN and EX valve diameters.. If you are buying springs anyway, might as well maintain the proper seat...

New Issue- slight hesitation only on left turns

If your float swap to brass floats has resulted in the flooding issue, make sure your oil did not become diluted with fuel. How is your fuel filter? Is it a see through design? Could you have some dirt that eventually made it's way to the needle and seat? Why did you switch to the (non-NASCAR...

    Blown Slant Six Dyno Test

Well, when you build a turbo slant six on the cheap with a .020 shim head gasket and ARP head and main studs and a few other parts for under $500 at the time and kick some small block ***, it is well worth the cost.. The most important component for reliability is to get rid of the factory head...

Fuel monitoring was done with used oxygen sensor and volt meter reading less than .500 to .400 volt. Always wanted to try a two speed power glide...
