Sorry to say if it were me I'd tear it all apart and put it together with the cam and crank in their respective positions with the cam at 6 and the crank at 12 and put the distributor in its stock state so you just might pick up some bottom end.

I could be wrong but 2bbl motors came with hyd. camshafts ... but who's to say someone didn't install a solid cam etc!!Pulling the head sounds like the way to go.

You can please some of the people some of the time but you cannot please all the people all the time. Whenever I side step the clutch the appropriate things happen,it seems as though if you raise your foot really fast it would cause the clutch to slip! Opinions VARY.

I thought the trans had the partial vin on the passenger side, lower part on a raised flat with the #'s stamped in. Sometimes the paint or grease hides the stamped #'s...Good luck!

I had one HELL of a time doing mine, I ended up needing 2 friends unbolted the bell,unbolted the trans from the bell and lined up all of them at the same time because the trans was hitting the tunnel around the trans crossmember... if and when I do again it'll be out of the car or the centerlink...
