Interesting to have a former employee of Chrysler Corporation among our members.
Did you work at Hamtramck factory?
In relation with the thread subject, my broadcast sheet say 821 for the trans (line 4 "codes"). It's an A230 3-speed floor shift gearbox behind a slant-6
According to the Chrysler chart, 2998945 is a radiator part number for 1970 Dart/Valiant, 22", 318 w/o AC or 340 w/ AC.
As said above, 18398 is probably the manufacturer code.
In 1971, this code is 20446. At least, it’s the code of my 71 radiator.
Why not going for a remanufactured carb? Rockauto sells the Autoline C6018 carb which is a remanufactured Carter Ball&Ball (which is well better than the Holley 1920)
I have one of these Autoline carbs on my Demon and the car works like a charm.
This stud is badly twisted, and seems incorrect
The Chrysler stud has a semi-hemispherical head with a squared base. The squared base prevent the stud to turn while screwing the wing nut.
In 1994, I was travelling for holidays in USA and I visited R&R Salvage in Aurora, Missouri.
I was looking for parts for my 1970 Barracuda I owned then.
Here are two pics I took of E-bodies row
It's for an A-body (rearward shifter location) and has a yoke type extension housing.
If it doesn't have an identification pad on the pass.side, I think that it's a '66 or '67 A833.
Probably the same than mine :
Can you ID this Mopar gearbox?
I didn't know nothing about gearboxes and what I...
Hi Troy
Why do you bother about the area painted in blue? It's hidden when the lenses are installed onto the car rear panel. Just paint them gloss black including the lens edges...

Hi all
I plan to install an 833 gearbox into my '71 /6 Demon.
By now, the car still has its original 3-speed 230.
The 230 cross member on car is in a very good shape, but the extra 833 cross member I have, needs a total restauration.
The question is : are A-bodies 230 and 833 cross members...
On my '71 Demon w/standard bezel, I disconnect the speedo cable by leveraging with a flat screwdriver = the cable is simply clipsed into the bezel.
Reinstalling it can be painful as there's no room for the fingers and it's a little bit tricky to reach the connector.
The gearshift linkage has been reinstalled.
Instead of original clips, I used more modern "R" shaped clips.
The five gears engage easily (the reverse one with a sound "clac"... is it normal?) and the lockout lever works well.
With a little patience and resourcefulness, I've been able to reinstall the lockout handle and its cable : I slightly enlarged the lockout lever tiny hole, I centered the cable thanks to a little piece of rubber hose and miracle, when I slipped the T-handle onto the shifter, the cable passed...
Reassembling the shifter is very tricky :BangHead:
As soon as the lockout lever is slipped onto the shifter, the cable is invisible and unreachable... no way to guide the cable through the lockout lever hole
I assume that at the Inland plant, they used longer cables that, once installed, were...
Today, the Inland shifter is back from the chromer craftman. He made a nice job.
Now and before :
And the gearbox has been degreased and painted.
Now, I'm waiting for a shipping quote from Dan Brewer for some parts I have...
Glad to have been useful.
But sorry, I saw that the link I posted is for a 5 pieces bundle. Probably it's possible to find an Ebay sale for a single connector set.
If you're not looking for a stock apparence, you can go for a both ends (male and female) connector replacement.
Generic connectors like these ones :
Reliable, easily findable on internet and cheap.
Does somebody know the ball thread of an Inland shifter?
I would like to add a white Hurst style ball onto my '66 Inland shifter, but are they compatible?

Some news
The /6 bell housing has been degreased and painted. From '66 red to '71 blue (not the correct blue, but it will make the job) :)
Before
After
The other canister has the same caracteristic : a built-in purge valve, which is connected onto the distributor vacuum, and which turn the system inactive at idle.
And yes, in theory this system has no effect on idle quality and turns easy the hot starts.... in theory.
Do you think the 1971...
Thanks Troy :)
But it's the same canister model than the one shown in the FSM.
I would have liked to know the hose ports for the other model
Why?
The '72-up ECS is an improvment of the '70/'71 ECS, so well that systems of nearly the same design are still used.
So I can suppose that it's a...
Hi guys
I envisage to upgrade my '71 /6 Demon ECS to the more efficient '72-up charcoal canister ECS, but what's the correct hoses connecting..?
Chrysler #4723551 :
The 1972 FSM doesn't really help as the charcoal canister hasn't the same design and color coded nipples
:thankyou:in...
