    Plug readings

Hi guys, I just pulled my plugs and am looking for thoughts on them from guys with more experience than me. I’ve had them in for last season cruising and then cruising + two weekends of drag racing this year. I appreciate any help, thanks guys. Mike N.

Valve Cover Gasket Question (yes, another)

Be sure to check that there’s no interference and that your valve covers are sitting as they should. When I changed from a single plane intake manifold to a dual plane I had the smallest oil leak that took some time to find where it was coming from. The dual plane intake was stopping the valve...

W2 with Dual plane intake performance

Just glancing at your build it sounds like you went for a lot more power than I did and I can see the single plane maybe being a better fit for you. For a quick comparison I did: .020 over 340 MP dual plane Racer brown SFT cam - 543 lift & 242/242 duration @ .050 Unported heads A833 four speed

W2 with Dual plane intake performance

I can share my experience with the Mopar Performance W2 dual plane intake manifold. I built my 340 for a street car and initially had a MP M1 single plane intake manifold, with that it made 440HP and 420TQ on an engine dyno (later dyno’d 370 RWHP & 374 RWTQ). I drove it for the year but felt...

    Where does this bracket belong?

Sorry, jumped the gun and forgot to add that info. ‘69 340 dart with a 4-speed.

    Where does this bracket belong?

Hey guys, I’m trying my hand at racing for the first time and after a couple runs this bracket dropped down at my feet. For the life of me I can’t find where it belongs, I checked with a couple other 4-speed about guys at the track and think it’s part of the pedal assembly but where...

Any Magnum 500's on a blue dart?

I ended up going with Cragars for the dart, 14x6’s in the front and 15x7’s in the back to fit 255/60R15’s. I’m very happy with the look, a bit more rake and I like how the wheels match the chrome trim & bumpers.

    Leaf spring shackle angle

Thanks guys, I’ll tighten everything up and see how it drives in a few months. Seeing as the shackles fall in the acceptable position I’ll let the springs settle before looking at a spacer. Cheers, Mike N.

    Leaf spring shackle angle

Yes the tires are on the ground with full weight of the car on them.

    Leaf spring shackle angle

Yes those are the nylon locknuts that came with the Dr. diff kit. I haven’t tightened anything yet I just have them on by hand, once tightened yes there will be threads past the nuts. Still have a foot of snow on the ground here so talking it out for a drive isn’t an option for awhile yet.

    Leaf spring shackle angle

Hi guys, My swinger had the original leaf springs with extended shackles that I swapped out for Dr. diff offset hanger & shackles along with new +1” springs from Espo. What do you all think of the shackle angle? Ok where it is or should I add spacers behind the shackle bracket to move the...

    Leaf spring rear bushing question

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking but thought that I’d double check before cutting them down. Cheers, Mike N.

    Leaf spring rear bushing question

Hi guys quick question on these leaf spring rear bushings. I bought new springs and bushings from espo, looking at the bushings they are longer than the sleeve on the spring. Im guessing that I cut the bushing down so it fits the sleeve or is it meant to be longer and compresses that much when...

    Made in China quality control!!

Thank you for bringing this post back to earth, there’s a reason I posted it in the jokes and funny stuff page! By the way I’m still trying to figure out how often I should usually breathe lube into this die grinder lol. Mike N.

Any Magnum 500's on a blue dart?

I got ahold of Stockton Wheels and they did make Magnum 500's in SBP up until 8 months ago but they haven't been able to source material so they aren't even taking orders for them so that's out the window. That leaves my options at Rallye's or Cragars and I'm leaning towards a set of Cragars...

Any Magnum 500's on a blue dart?

Hmm I might be wrong but I'd thought that Stockton Wheels made them in both bolt pattern's. I'll have to call them tomorrow to confirm as that would scratch Magnum 500's off the list. Mike N.

Any Magnum 500's on a blue dart?

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a game plan together for my work on the swinger this winter. Right now I have 14" x 5.5" small bolt pattern Rallye's and with the fresh 340 I put in I'm looking for stickier tires but with the 14" wheels I'm very limited. I like period correct wheels and my plan is...

What carb for my 340 build?

I went with a Holley 750 DP without choke Holley 0-82751SA 750 CFM Aluminum Street HP Carburetor I’m happy with the carb and also glad I went without a choke as now not having one I can backup that they aren’t needed (at least for fair weather driving). I broke in my motor on an engine dyno and...

Do I have the right harmonic balancer?

Thanks for the help guys, I double checked the pulley and yes the holes line up with the balancer and re-marking the timing mark is an easy fix. I also looked a bit further and found the part on Dayco’s website and confirmed it’s a neutral balance. Thanks! Mike N.
  23. 340MPR

Do I have the right harmonic balancer?

Yes my crank is internally balanced and there are no weights on the PB balancer so it sounds like it will work. I don’t have enough knowledge on the changes that happened over the years and worried that maybe the weight or factory balance of the harmonic balancer’s changed over the years as...

Do I have the right harmonic balancer?

Hi guys I'm after some help on the harmonic balancer that my father in law had on his parts shelf, I know that he picked it up with the intent of putting it in his 69' 340 but looking up the part number I'm not sure if it's right. It's a Powerbond PB1004N, PowerBond PB1004N PowerBond Premium...

    340 badge dimensions?

Thanks for the help on the badge sizes, I picked up a set of Summit aluminum valve covers and want to have '340' put on the center flat section. Lettering around 3" x 1" would fit about perfect so those badges are a bit small. I'll try my luck at a few local metal shops and look into getting...

    340 badge dimensions?

Hi guys, Can anyone help me out and please let me know the dimensions of the 340 hood badge found on 70-73 dart hood scoops? I've found the part on various sites under part #VC340 but no one lists the size. I'm thinking of using it elsewhere so that's why I'm after the size. Thanks, Mike N.

What carb for my 340 build?

Hey guys I think that I've got all the pieces together now, flow numbers on the heads and Cam's been ordered from Racer Brown. Here's a quick rundown of it all; - 340 .030 over - 10.5-1 compression - W2 heads w/ valve job & bowl blend - 263CFM - MP single plane intake manifold - Headers - 4...

What carb for my 340 build?

No I'll only have the car on the road from May through to the end of September. They don't clean the sand off the roads from winter until mid April and October is to hit and miss to keep the car insured so no the car will only be fair weather driven.
