Power steering pump makes the "empty" sound all the time.

Having worked as a Ford tech for a number of years their pumps are very sensitive to air in the system & it's hard to purge.... Rule 1 when servicing a P/S system do not just fill the reservoir & start the engine expecting to top off the system.... Instead fill the reservoir, disable the...

    Cylinder #7 down on compression

Doesn't anyone put a little oil in the cylinder & retest anymore? One tablespoon of oil, spin the motor over to spread the oil & retest... If the compression goes up the rings are the problem.. If not valves or cam are the likely cause.... 110 PSI isn't a burned valve, it could be carbon but a...

Holley 1850 fuel transfer tube seals??

If your pulling the bowl off then yes, flip it and look at the float, however I tend to intentionally set it a touch low so I know I need to rise the level when the engine is running.... The other method is when you leave the bowl attached to the carb and just pull the needle/seat.... Either...

Holley 1850 fuel transfer tube seals??

When you reinstall the needle & seat assemblies lube the o rings, then screw them in deep enough that the nut barely has anything to grab... That way when you start the engine you'll know the fuel level should be low.... So, with the sight plug out and a screwdriver & 5/8 wrench you can slowly...

Holley 1850 fuel transfer tube seals??

Flooding is either a needle and seat issue of a bad float.... Bad brass floats are easy to spot, it'll have gas in it... Nitrophyl check the weight compared to a good float On the needle & seat, unscrew it from the carb, look for debris in the needle & seat, also check the o ring on the , a...

Holley 1850 fuel transfer tube seals??

In post #3 I posted this... I've rebuilt literally hundreds of 1850's, never had a problem with the O rings... But there's a trick to installing them..... Don't push them fully on the tube or seat them fully in the cavity... Just barely start them on the tube then insert the tube into the...

    Just needing some help

Yup, after looking at your photo I had that wrong... Your hoses are hooked up right but apparently you are getting manifold vacuum at the ported vacuum port... It may be that the throttle plates are open to far.... If you were closer I'd be wanting to have a look but that ain't happening..

    Just needing some help

Okay, the yellow port connects to the choke pull-off which is green... Vacuum advance connects to the nipple that should be near the blue arrow under the float bowl... Oh, if you decide to throw it away, throw it my way... LOL...

    Just needing some help

You have timing coming from both vacuum advance and mechanical advance... When you plug the hose in to the vacuum port it brings in timing, that timing causes the rpm's to increase, when the rpm's increase that causes the mechanical advance to bring in more timing..... Which causes the rpm's to...
