Help me understand difficulty of ownership

Not too bad, some parts are harder to find than others, but that is to be expected with 50+ year old cars. Sometimes it's the hunt for parts and discovering the cool stuff you can do that makes it enjoyable. Just make sure you buy something solid and maybe original since you are at a beginner level.

Project Cheap & Nasty Updated With Back Story

I wonder if the valve covers and intake manifold are going to be the same color as the block and head or maybe a different shade of green to tribute a dollar bill for it's cheap theme?

Edelbrock performer intake manifold for a 318

Just ruin my day. After being away for a bit, I got excited for Dan that he was going to buy a sweet set of wheels, but the more I read this thread, the more disappointed I felt. This thread started off with amazing potential and now feels like a troll. WHY DAN!? I had hopes for you, then you...

    Ignition Module Recommendations?

Hi rev works fine, but my issue turned out to be the "new" plug wires I installed. New ish parts becoming an issue when the temperature changes.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

Lol, thats true. When I tried to have them spec a cam for my grocery getter, it seemed like they wanted me to build a race car, or a mean machine.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

What heads are the springs for? If using stock rockers on the rocker shaft you may need to clearance the rockers of they have not been ground already. It's easy to do, just leave enough room, I forgot how much my cardboard Guage was, I'm sure someone here knows how much.

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

You also have little squirter holes that need to face the inside, but if you just swapped left and right and had them flipped it should be in the correct direction.

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

You got the lifters too? Don't cheap out on those, Hughes has few choices on their site. I hope you have the rods facing the correct direction, because they are directional. I'm sure you did.

Who knows about 5.5 hp governor Honda power??

Take that air solenoid thing out and get everything else working properly first. Then hook back up and adjust it if needed. Also, it may be possible that they want the engine to not idle for this application, but IDK.

Who knows about 5.5 hp governor Honda power??

The governor limits the maximum engine speed, full throttle will never be full throttle unless under load or if the engine is off. From the factory the governor is usually calibrated to control engine speed to about 3,600 RPM when the throttle lever is at the full speed position. When the...

Slant Six Oil light coming on — need a new pump?

More of the same opinion, the better. Lol. I could technically help the OP in person, but I have work, don't want to go to or go anywhere near NYC and I have brain surgery coming up.

Slant Six Oil light coming on — need a new pump?

There could be some goop or crud in the pan that slowly makes it's to the pickup while running, then when the engine is off for a good amount of time the crud or goop floats away or sinks.

    Air filter issues

3 filters in 3 months! I try to stretch my filters to 3 years lol. Don't USE SOLVENTS ON FILTERS they can be corrosive and eat away material. Reusable filters usually can be cleaned out with dish soap or laundry detergent along with water.

Site sucks for mobile users because of ads

Everyone who has said go gold missed the point. I never said remove all the ads, just want the site to not be an unusable dog **** broken mess. Site sucks for mobile users because of ads

No really, we put up with it enough, it's a horrible experience sometimes. I'm fine with ads, but the implementation sucks ***. These ads will cause things to lag, they will pop up and shift over the menus or whatever you are reading, take up half the screen sometimes, interweave in the...

HAS ANYONE ELSE READ ABOUT THIS?

How it did not show up as stolen when they tried to register the car is a mystery. To help prevent issues like these because the people in many government departments suck a$$ at their job, we should document many of the things we do with our cars. We do repairs and modify things sometimes...
