Thinking about converting from 4speed to 904 or slant six 727.

I rebuilt my first 727 in 1985. I did a reverse valve body mod, that 383 would smoke some rubber and it was a pretty quick car. That lasted a year and it locked up on me cruising at 40 mph. I thought the 4:10 diff locked up until I looked under the car and saw bellhousing pieces on the ground...

Thinking about converting from 4speed to 904 or slant six 727.

So the a998 bell will bolt to a slant? Or the 998 was behind a later year slant?

Thinking about converting from 4speed to 904 or slant six 727.

Has anybody ever gone from a 4 speed to an automatic? Did you regret it? What did you do with the hole in the floor and clutch pedal?

a833 OD vibration in 4th gear at 3000 rpm

I just removed the wheels and drums, vibration still there. Narrowed down to driveshaft or transmission. The drum I beat off apparently was not the problem even though it is missing a chunk.

a833 OD vibration in 4th gear at 3000 rpm

I just confirmed the vibration is still there in Neutral at 45mph, rpms dropped to 1000. I guess I'm going to take the new driveshaft back to Gregory's and have them check it. But, I suppose I could take the new tires and wheels off the rear , put it on jack stands and see if the vibration is...

a833 OD vibration in 4th gear at 3000 rpm

Might as well add my story. My 833od has a vibration at 40ish mph when shifting to 3rd, gets worse in 4th. 1-2,3rd, 4th under 40mph no issues just a whine in 4th only. Any speed past 40 in 3rd/4th the vibration is there. And its severe. Can't take the car to 40 in 2nd due to my rpms are maxed...

    Power to everything Nothing works

Check your fusible links, they can look okay, but you need to pull them, if bad the outer insulation will stretch.

New leafs too high, how much will they settle?

Torqued to 45ft. Shackles 35ft. Everything torqued. Even the wheels. I turned up the torsion bar tension. It’s livable. Thanks.

New leafs too high, how much will they settle?

I just installed P4120864 and 63. Supposed to be for a 2800lb car. Now my car is jacked up in the rear. All fasteners were tightened with the axle up. It’s pretty bouncy right now. I’m going to take the load off the front suspension and raise the front. Dang it.

    MTF Comparisons?

So been driving for 5 days with the valvoline synchro. The shifting is perfect. Not one crunch or hard to get into any gear. The downside is the trans is noisier and feels looser, probably because my 833 needs a rebuild. But it just shifts perfect after changing to synchromesh. I might drain...

    MTF Comparisons?

The viscosity of the synchromesh looked like 10w30.

    MTF Comparisons?

Just back from a 35 mile drive. Not one issue with 1st or 3rd gear. Incredible that the synchromesh fixed that issue. However the transmission is noisier. Shifts very easy, and there was a smell from the new fluid, possible what spilled during fill, however its diminished. Over all I'm a believer.

    MTF Comparisons?

I also had the 1st gear issue. The 50/50 gear oil and dexron didn't help my issue, I was going to do the 50/50 with synchromesh, but opted to drain the gear oil and use all synchro. I guess it's trial and error until you find what works. I know GL4 is the correct oil in warm/hot climates...

    MTF Comparisons?

I have the OD Was running 80w90, then 50/50 with dexron/ then 75w140/ never could get 3rd gear crunch to go away. 1st gear was hard to get into at times. So finally after a year of this BS, I decided to fill it with Valvoline synchromesh. wow the 3rd gear crunch is gone. Never shifted better...

HOT headlight Switch? Don't know why

I did the same as Rusty, except a different brand. 1 relay for each 6024 halogen. Assuming the wire is getting hot with the lamps on. So wire from headlight switch to dimmer gets overheated. But from dimmer to lamps the wires feel normal? What gauge wire from the headlight switch to the...

Old thread, my 66 Dart has the clifford setup/intake,aluminum valve cover, headers, stewart warner gauges, all was done in 2003. Not by me. Except for the new Edelbrock 500 I put on 3 months ago to replace the old 500. Whoever did the car, did it right.

I think factory is 11". I swapped my (used to have) 71 charger with a 10" 2600 stall with 4.10 gear 383 engine. Great light to light. Not great on the highway.

It was definitely a scam. This guy was selling anything you asked for according to his photos. He was only asking $100 to ship 140lb 4 speed from Colorado to VA.
