The mystery of the missing oil?

Good point on the steering! My PS pump does whine if you go to either lock, but these sweeping turns are not locked to either side

The mystery of the missing oil?

See the photo below of my dipstick. Very dark and burnt smelling. Ignore the fill level, this was moments after it ran

The mystery of the missing oil?

I added the amount listed in my Chilton guide, can't recall exactly how much... Same as when i add oil to my Dune buggy VW, I add oil and make sure the mark is in the middle of the 2 hashes when dead cold

The mystery of the missing oil?

Okay, investigation largely complete. Photos of plugs, valve cover, and restrictor attached. Here's a series of events I belive contributed. (all like six months ago) I installed a new mechanical fuel pump as I suspected the old one was leaking into the crank case Oil changed After I put in...

The mystery of the missing oil?

Alright alright, I'll check it out. Is there any chance it would slow down my engine during a turn? Especially during tight or continuous turns in the last few months, the engine wants to die at low revs while turning the car

The mystery of the missing oil?

? I will get under but like.... You understand if it was leaky, it would be on the tray? "what if it only leaks going down the road" And what if the tooth fairy is stealing it??

The mystery of the missing oil?

I should have led with that.... No oil leaks, it's parked over a trap and there's no oil in there.

The mystery of the missing oil?

Hello all. I've been enjoying my dart all winter until today, when I briefly got an oil warning light while stopping. It came on for maybe a second. I checked my oil after I got home and found it was gone! Just a smudge on the end, under the low end, black, and smelling of gas. No coolant or...

    Vibration from trans?

Sorry - Slant 6, 225cc, torqueflite automatic push button. 64 Dart GT. Rear end is original, don't know what size though.

    Vibration from trans?

Hey all, I have a vibration that sort of comes on and gets really bad at particular RPMs. It happens in neutral as well. Without a tach, I can't say quite what RPM, but it's easy to reproduce at 50MPH in 3rd gear. More gas makes it go away, less gas makes it go away. I believe my motor mounts...

Trans leak from small metal cylinder

See the photo. My trans is happily leaking heaps of fluid from the area circled. The little cylinder, which is typically covered by the rotted rubber sleeve, is sliding in and out freely if I push or pull it. Fluid is dumping out from the joint of the black cable to the back our the cylinder as...

    Sagging on one side?

1964 dodge dart gt hardtop 2 door The drivers side of my car appears to sag lower than the right. I've never done any suspension work before, so I'm not sure what components would be best to start checking. Front left makes quite a pronounced squeak when lifting the bumper up and down. If I...

    Rear window trim

Hey all, See photos below... I have the trim piece that's supposed to go in this section, but I believe the clips are missing or rusted off..... Unless it's supposed to push under them? I want to get it on there and looking good. Any advice?

Blowby and compression test - 225

Hey all, My slant 6 225 is running heaps better now that I've completed a proper valve lash. HOWEVER, it seems that there is still a bit of blowby and I'm smelling gas in the Oil. I haven't confirmed a fuel pump internal leak yet, thought it's possible. My Hobo Fright compression test...

Valve Lash - Hot or cold?

Alright - I set the lash with the engine running and hot, and my idle is now able to lower, and is much smoother than before. I still have a bit of a blowby issue; e.g. seeing very light smoking from the crankcase, oil smells like gas - but I'm going to do an oil change as the oil is older than...

Valve Lash - Hot or cold?

I've read many forums on lashing valves on here and almost all of them say to do it hot. I don't necessarily mind doing that, but many old hat mechanics seem to say you can set the lash cold. Is there any reason this wouldn't work? It seems like the suggestions I've heard for flat tappet cam...

[FOR SALE] Trim Clips - Early A Body

Hello - In case anyone else could possibly use it, I've designed and 3D printed my own trim clips for the "C" channel chrome trim that runs the length of the body. It drops on from the front. Holes need drilled for screw alignment. Takes about 10 hours per half on a fairly large nozzle, but is pretty beefy.

A Body glove box - newly made

Would anyone be interested in a new manufactured glove box? I am testing with 3D printing and have a connection who could vaccum form them from black ABS. I'd be happy to get a batch of people would be interested in buying them. I heard apipco is not around any longer and I'm not easily...

    Holley 1920 accelerator pump issues

I get it, but I'd rather make what I have work. Carters are over 150 on ebay for a really junky one that I'd still have to pay for reman and flow test. Now that my 1920 is running great, I'm happy ☺

    Holley 1920 accelerator pump issues

Hey all!! This post is informational as I think it may help others in the future. I recently had an issue where my 64 dart 225 would bog really hard, have okay-ish idle, but rev all the way up after the initial bog. I tried all of the following to resolve to no avail - Rebuild carb, spray...

See photos - newer shinier alternator has the exact same connections as the old. Only one FLD connection, one ground, and one BATT. Any chance there's a fuse or something I don't know about?
