Do the charcoal briquets really work? I've got a Dakota that they keep chewing the plastic gas lines on.

    Old is when?

I have grandkids that are teens. I graduated HS a half a century ago. I figured out a while ago, I'm closer to the big dirt nap than I am to my youngest son's birthday. It goes faster every year.

What's the best source for the clips? I see Classic Industries has some but they are designated as GM parts? Do these work?

    71 Swinger Body Side Molding

How does this attach? Is there a clip for the post? Who has those? If replacing a quarter panel, how do you replace the little posts? I apologize if this has been discussed previously. Just point me to the previous post. Thanks!

Keep your head on a swivel and why you should use a dash cam in your vehicle

Looks like many of these were caused by somebody trying to be nice and waving someone through in front of them. Then they cross the adjoining lane and are t boned. Always follow the rules, never wave someone across in front of you, or let someone wave you across. It's a recipe for a wreck...

Power steering box on 74 duster 318

Don't cut the steering shaft! If I were going Borgeson, I would go with the Bergman Auto Craft adapter. I changed mine recently (74 Duster 318, p/s) but I went with the Firm Feel Stage II. I like it, but I've got stock manifolds, not headers. The Borgeson might add some room for the headers...

    Getting fed up...

I have to say, I've been encouraged by Rock Auto. I like that the pictures they show seem to be pretty accurate to what you will get. I have had a couple of really bad experiences with chinese wheel bearings, so I try really hard to stay away from chinese made products. I know, easier said than...

how many cars do you have?

Normally aspirated? Had a friend in HS that had a 6.9 NA. Not fast, but loads of torque! It's funny what they would put the 300 gas 6cyl in. Almost like seeing a D800 with a poor little 318 in it. Reminds me of little max pulling the sleigh up the mountain in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

What's your opinion on the slack in this 318 timing chain?

I see a lot of people fretting over timing chain slack on cam in block engines (OHC is entirely different.) I personally think this mindset is a byproduct of the plastic top sprockets of the 70's that were supposed to quiet engine noise. Those things were gone in 70K miles. But this is not the...

    Unknown rebuild specs

Sounds like you need another mechanic. Get one that can read a service manual and not just Hot Rod magazine. NO to the cam and higher stall converter. They are a PIA on the street. Why no vacuum advance? Even the stock electronic ignition is very reliable. In my experience, most "stumbles" end...

Life after Holley Sniper - back to Carb

I recently bought a car that someone had hot rodded by adding electronic TBI, electric fans, electric fuel pump, moving the battery to the trunk, wild MSD ignition etc... They burnt the fusible link, it scared them and they gave up. I got the car and I've gone back to stock with everything I...

Jr Dragsters. Is this what our sport is becoming

I would say that if they are fighting in the pits, they aren't really pros. If they have sponsors, eventually their sponsors will get tired of their driver making enemies and pissing people off.

Jr Dragsters. Is this what our sport is becoming

Loose points. Forfeit prize money. Suspension from competition for a number of races. That goes for drivers AND crew. If you want to turn professional one day, you have to act professional from day one.

How much would you pay for a product made in the US vs China

Personally, it depends on the part. For the most part I would have to say 50% more for an American made piece. After that I really have to think about it. Except for bearings. I won't buy Chinese bearings, period. I've had too many failures and fitment issues. Chinese hammers or race drivers...

    Electrical problems 73 duster

Did you notice if it had stabbed the harness? If it did, you may need to repair a broken wire.

    Electrical problems 73 duster

Just a possibility, Wiring harness is very close to some of the top screws on the instrument cluster. Pull the cluster back out and see if one of the screws has stabbed and cut a wire. (Ask me how I know)

2006 dodge 3.3 timing chain slop.

2006 dodge 3.3 timing chain slop.

I don't believe the 3.3s are interference engines. A broken timing chain would just be a broken timing chain, but timing chains on those engines are not a problem. I wouldn't touch it, but it's your money! Have fun!

Honestly, if you feel the need to do preemptive maintenance at 160K, replace the in-tank fuel pump if you haven't already.

2006 dodge 3.3 timing chain slop.

Drive it. Those 3.3 pushrod engines are pretty reliable. Yep, steel gear and no tensioner. Cam in block, relatively short chain. Remember those are not OHC. I've seen well over 300K on those with no issues on timing chains. I bet if you put a new chain on it, you'd probably see close to the same...

Racing on Mother's Day weekend is bad juju! :realcrazy: When I was racing motorcycles, someone scheduled a ride on Mother's Day weekend. EVERYONE crashed and came back hurt or with damaged bikes. Never again! Every other holiday is ok, but not Mother's Day!
