Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

Looking at the photos of your damaged axle , it appears as though they don't completely engage the side gear. Having learned this lesson the hard way with a 4 speedi Super Stock Dodge Charger I can tell you a ring gear spacer or thick flange carrier should move the carrier closer to the small...

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

Looking at your damaged axle pictures , I think your making this too complicated. Having experienced this exact axle failure/ side gear damage it appears the axle is not completely in the side gear. This is usually due to a low gear ratio /higher number. The fix is a ring gear spacer moving the...

    Rear axle swap.

I'm working on a rear axle swap with a "B" body 8 3/4 axle into a 79 Dodge Aspen RT. I have the correct lower spring mounts , but the shock configuration is different as the lower shock is a "Bolt/Bushing" arrangement instead of the original bottom" Stud/Nut" F Body. I'm thinking OE B Body...

    Holley electric choke.

Kinda thought so. Thanks for your input. Wasn't sure about the choke heater, especially with an Edelbrock Aluminum manifold with no heat crossover. Will likely still wire it with the 3 prong oil pressure sending unit so no current is supplied prior to engine start up. Thank you again for your help.

    Holley electric choke.

Any thoughts about wiring a 650 CFM Holley electric choke circuit through the OE choke resistor ? The instructions from Holley say to wire to a 12V power supply.

    727 transmission dilemma.

Sorta thought that was the case. The back half has all gone back together clean and the snap ring is seated in the groove. I think this back end is okay, but I appreciate your thoughts and attention. Gonna complete the reassembly and hope something positive happens ! Thank you again.

    727 transmission dilemma.

Thank you for your experienced advice. I wonder though if we had clearance issues with the overrunning clutch or with a planetary thrust washer installed , both possibilities , would the snap ring at the end of the output shaft seat in the groove ? Also the end play of the input shaft after...

    727 transmission dilemma.

I thought the same thing until I opened it up again and discovered that the condition went away when the clutches were removed. My next thought was that a clutch was stuck for some reason , but not so. It seems that the overrunning clutch is part of the driven components and splined to the...

    727 transmission dilemma.

Just completed a 727 Torqueflite overhaul with a few mods from a TCI kit. It's been 40 some years since I've had one of these apart ,but most of it came back. Upon completion including "air checking" all seemed well. The problem began when I slipped a spare slip yoke into the extension housing...
