    Offy dual BBS setup

I remember those, and I've seen a few on ebay over the years. How many did you sell?

    Project Black Betty

Also on the diff, I was looking at some numbers (cant remember where) and an 8.8 is about 1" longer from axle center to flange than a 7.25 rear. So I was thinking that you could use the circle track leaf springs, which have a 1/2-inch longer front section, and probably use the same driveshaft.

    Project Black Betty

Like that diff, I think I'm going to do the same thing.

    Offy dual BBS setup

Wow blast from the past. I actually sold that intake without running it. I gave up because there are NO tuning parts for the BBS carbs available. I set it up as best I could but had no way to tune it if it didn't work. If you are going to do one of these, use new 2bbl webers or a pair of...

Eddy 1406 pissing me off (LOL)

The motor in my truck (318) has a 1406 and blocked crossover and it is a cold-blooded SOB. Takes a good 6 miles of driving to stop the bogging and backfiring on quick throttle openings. Runs great the rest of the time, including hot starts. But it does have a rather short fuel line since the...

    Engine build pics

Well I'm actually moving to NYC for work in 2 weeks. I'm staying with friends and my house is rented out. The car is being loaded on a carrier on Tuesday for shipping.

Slant engine builder in SW PA.

There's not much special about assembling a slant six.... Maybe in the porting and cam choice, but not in the machine machine work or assembly.

    Engine build pics

Thanks guys! Slants are an acquired taste. Most of the time I feel like Don Quixote flailing at windmills but it's lots of fun. You can make more power for cheaper with an LA engine but who really cares how fast you go?

FINALLY got the motor installed. But not running yet (I'm moving and won't have time to work on it for at least a year.)

    Cooling for Early A

Just got one in the mail from Randy Pettey in Michigan. Custom made, fits inside the original radiator opening with an offset neck to get more fan space.

I need a picture of the fuel sender wiring in the trunk

Sorry I thought the title of the forum was "early A-body discussions". It's a 64 Valiant sedan but I assume it's the same from '63-'66 sedans and coupes Dart and Valiant. Barracuda is unlikely to be the same.

I need a picture of the fuel sender wiring in the trunk

I can't remember which body plug the fuel sender wire goes through on its way to the tank. And where/how the wire is clipped to the body under there. Does anyone have a trunk picture?

    Seam sealer between fender/body?

On my '68 Dodge truck I used 3M "strip caulk" and I'll probably do the same here. It's thick and does not harden.

    Family '64 4-door Valiant winter re-do

Shell paint is finally done. Of course now I will have 4 days (really nights) to get the motor, trans, doors, fenders and hood back on the car because we are moving house.

    Seam sealer between fender/body?

Is there supposed to be seam sealer between the fenders and the inner fenders on my '64 Valiant? I don't recall seeing any when I took it apart, but it seems odd that there would not be.

I wanted to post this here so the slant guys see it

TDC mark on the damper is the same 67 and back. Also same 68 and newer.

    charging issue?

Also if you got a parts store rebuild who knows what pulley is on it. I got one with a huge pulley compared to the one that was on my car. Swapped pulleys and low RPM output was much better.

Need Early A-Body slant 6 Oil pan

Bill that is the same pan that came stock on my '64 Valiant that has always been in my family and never had the motor out. You can tell a '63-66 pan by the funky dent in the side, and the fact that the flat section in the front is longer than the one in the back. Every other pan is more nearly...

    Slant 6 engine machinist

    What cam are you running?

I have a Delta, they did a cam to my specs. .236/.230 duration, 106 LSA, installed ICL at 100 degrees (6 deg advanced). .340/.322 lobe lift. Don't forget the slant has a long stroke and crappy ports so you can get away with a bigger (duration) cam than other motors. And the rocker ratio does...

[FOR SALE] Slant 6 machined block, crank, rods, pistons, bearings

I have a slant six short block that was rebuilt many years ago and then left to sit. I disassembled it to check everything out and clean it up, but I won't need it for my car and it is in the way. I had it sold but the buyer was not able to complete the transaction so I refunded his money and...

    Tips for rebuilding early-a hinges?

I tried to get fancy and weld up the holes and re-drill them. Man, it was a b*tch. I had to anneal the metal to make it soft enough to drill. The originals are steel on steel, which is a good thing, since a bronze bushed hinge will wear faster. Also, the pins on mine were worn far more than the...

    slant ignition products

There is a guy on ss.org that sells distributor spring kits for the slant too. I can tell you from experience that the effort/cost to reward ratio of re-curving the distributor and playing with timing is absolutely worth it. You can really wake up an otherwise stock slant by bumping up low-rpm...

Daydreaming about a super duper slant...

Yeah I had a 2bbl intake and sold it. The Holley is a better carb since you can actually get parts for them. The BBS is totally obsolete and no jets/rods/etc. available. I have a lathe and can make them but I would not recommend them for anyone without the tools & skills. What you need is the...

    Some more head questions

I don't think there are hardened seats installed into the head, rather the valve seat area is flame hardened. I could be wrong but that's what all the later heads I have seen look like.

    early A slant oil pan

LOL don't worry about the caps. Yeah the early A pans are really hard to find. On my old '64 Dart I actually used an F-body pan but I had to bash in the area above the drag link for clearance. The right front corner would hit the K-member on "hard" acceleration though. Grab the pickup too...
