Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

Okay thanks for these I’m going to watch them now. So I’m trying to figure out what to address first. Right now the most concerning issues are the newly discovered intake gasket leaking coolant, the rear brakes are leaking pretty sure, and the electrical issues. When I do address electrical...

so, trying to do this in order of operation, what the most serious issues are want to get handled asap. Is this probably the top of the list? Also, I am pretty sure the brakes are leaking brake fluid…thinking it’s the rear. When I pulled off the cap, one side is completely gone. I’m going to...

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

That is good to know! Thanks for mentioning these brands I’m going to reference this for my parts. My uncle is shipping me an alternator he got from a duster or possibly a vailant. He said it should work in my car, but I’m not totally sure on it. I gotta get a regulator too. Would you say rock...

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

Glad to hear the engine compartment is looking good to you, that gives me some encouragement that it wasn’t a super rough one to start with. Anyway, I am sorry for how clueless I am, but just to clarify I will need to purchase specifically an “electric” electro mechanical regulator, but NOT a...

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

So the red arrows are showing where the leak is coming from. I wish I could record it to show a video but it is bubbling out from that crack. The blue arrows are just pointing out some of the leakage that can be seen. Is this where the thermostat housing is? I don’t really know where that is...

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

Does it matter if I get an electro mechanical one or an electrical one? Does the electrical one work just fine? I’ve attached a photo of the regulator, one picture is of the alternator, I noticed these taped wires by it that seem… possibly sketchy? Also included more of the wires because I’m...

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

This was all extremely helpful information. Thank you I did order that service manual, but I just requested to see if I could cancel it. I will check out the wiring, but -if- I had to replace the VR, how do I figure out which amp I would need specifically? I’m finding ones that are 35 or 46...

Thank you I will for sure check these out. So another thing, I have ordered an original ‘68 valiant manual, but it won’t be here for probably about a week or so. I’m assuming it will have a diagram showing all of the electrical? Is there a diagram online that I could check out now so I can try...

Hello! I’ve just purchased my first project vehicle, a 4-door 1968 Plymouth valiant with a 273 V8 engine, in honor of my father who passed away last year. I realize the 4-doors aren’t the most popular, but I sincerely don’t mind it at all. My father had one very similar to this one that I had...
