    Your First Car

First car was a 1970 chevelle malibu 307 and a powerglide A/C 54K miles paid 1000.00 of my own hard earned bucks way back in 1988. my little brother owns that car now... wish I did

    318 Sleeper build ideas

A 318 with flowmasters and enough cam to make 400 HP is not going to sound very stock... you wont fool anybody. The larger your displacement (stroker) the larger the cam you can use and still sound relatively stock. Larger displacement will also make more power without the need for a "big" camshaft

Any one build their own Headers

Ok so does anyone know which 67 and up style header will fit best on the passenger side of an early A? I would also be willing to try and modify a set of existing headers to fit a 360 in my 66 barracuda, sured would be nice if one side was already close to a good fit.

    #4448308 heads have any potential?

Sadly 91 octane is all we can get short of buying race fuel=$$$... i do have a station nearby that sells E85 but... whole new set of issues. So heads have been checked they do need guides and a valve job 2 exhaust valves were junk, I'll have to check my cam card i don't remember what springs...

    #4448308 heads have any potential?

My combo is fairly mild compared to most, a 0.030 360 stock crank and rods, kb 107's block is not zero decked just cleaned up. Compression a 91 octane friendly 9.0:1 comp xe268 cam. While i would love to go all out and build a set of top notch heads.... I just dont have the money. Around...

    #4448308 heads have any potential?

    #4448308 heads have any potential?

This is great news, i picked up the pair for 150 bucks to replace my cracked originals. The shop said they will need a valve job, new guides and possably hardened exhaust seats. I know they came with hardened seats, but i was told that they are sometimes thin and may not be hard enough after the...

    #4448308 heads have any potential?

I have a pair of these heads complete, they have been cleaned and checked and are crack free... just wondering if they are worth rebuilding. I am on a tight budget so i will most likely be stuck with a stock type cast iron head, they will be going on a fresh 0.030 360 with kb107's

    My 318....Is no more..... :(

That cam (performer RPM) seems a little large for a 318 is this your driver? have you figured your comp ratio? what are you running for rear gears/stall? Isn't a cam of this size pushing the limits of the stock/non adjustable valve train? seems like you might be building a dog without some other...

    360 lubrication system question

Guy at the machine shop said not all 360's had them and that the cam retaining plate should seal that passage, he also said that even if oil leaked past the cam retaining plate that it would not noticeably affect oil pressure or oiling to the top end. I asked if it would hurt to install them...

Main bearing thrust bearing too tight!!

Did some careful inspection today and guess what i found.... just what onecat said some burrs and dings to both the main cap and block. I spent some time cleaning things up a bit and it made a big difference, the bearing halves now slip into place firmly just like they should. I set the crank...

I will check very closely for any burrs/dings or high spots tomorrow.. fwiw the bearing is tight on both the block and cap. Main bearing thrust bearing too tight!!

Main bearing is an ACL 5M1266P-10 should be correct for 74+up 360 block casting # 4045601 360 date code 8-11-76 The thrust bearing fits on thrust journal nicely with the bearing in hand, bearing shell fits very tight on main cap and block. Once...

Do i have the wrong bearings? 76 360 block bearing p# 4999m 10 under main bearings crank was ground 0.010 Crank binds on the thrust surface when set into the block, is the thrust surface supposed to be 0.010 under as well as the rod and main journals?
