A 318 with flowmasters and enough cam to make 400 HP is not going to sound very stock... you wont fool anybody. The larger your displacement (stroker) the larger the cam you can use and still sound relatively stock. Larger displacement will also make more power without the need for a "big" camshaft

Are you running a points type ignition system? if so may be time for a new set, or at least an adjustment.. Might be worth a look

my vote is for bad turn signal switch. when mine went bad i had similar problems, seems like nearly all of the running light/brake light wires pass thru that switch

Ok so does anyone know which 67 and up style header will fit best on the passenger side of an early A? I would also be willing to try and modify a set of existing headers to fit a 360 in my 66 barracuda, sured would be nice if one side was already close to a good fit.

Sadly 91 octane is all we can get short of buying race fuel=$$$... i do have a station nearby that sells E85 but... whole new set of issues. So heads have been checked they do need guides and a valve job 2 exhaust valves were junk, I'll have to check my cam card i don't remember what springs...

I have a pair of these heads complete, they have been cleaned and checked and are crack free... just wondering if they are worth rebuilding. I am on a tight budget so i will most likely be stuck with a stock type cast iron head, they will be going on a fresh 0.030 360 with kb107's

Guy at the machine shop said not all 360's had them and that the cam retaining plate should seal that passage, he also said that even if oil leaked past the cam retaining plate that it would not noticeably affect oil pressure or oiling to the top end. I asked if it would hurt to install them...

Are there normally plugs installed in the lifter oil passages at the front of block, or are they sealed by the cam thrust plate?

Are you using a high volume oil pump? if so i would upgrade the pump driveshaft.

Now that this is sorted i will be ordering a new set of bearings.

Did some careful inspection today and guess what i found.... just what onecat said some burrs and dings to both the main cap and block. I spent some time cleaning things up a bit and it made a big difference, the bearing halves now slip into place firmly just like they should. I set the crank...

I will check very closely for any burrs/dings or high spots tomorrow.. fwiw the bearing is tight on both the block and cap. I know they should fit snugly but these are the first that i have encountered that i could not install by hand. This motor was complete and assembled when i got it crank...
