I have a slant6 with a 390 carb,clifford split head with a lokar kickdown cable..my problem is that I got it to shift through the gears ok but when the speed drops to about 40mph it downshifts into second..its a little uncomfortable and im out of ideas...

I put a floor shifter in mine with a bench seat...looks pretty good and it in just the right spot to rest your hand on it.

Thanks for the info,I still want to pull the motor to fix sme other things and clean it up,just need to know what size and type of bolts to use to lift the motor so i don't break anything and drop the engine since i'll be doing it alone.

well the book says to lift the engine 2in for clearance,but it looks like i mught be able to get out from the bottom,I will let you know though.

I need to pull my oil pump off to fix some leaks,is there anything I should after I put it back on before starting the car,i remember I did an oil pump on a 3.8 buick motor and had to pack the pump with vaseline to create suction... thanks
