Old thread, but looking for help with my 73 Duster sunroof. How does one remove the inner trim panel so that it can be recovered? I see the clip along the front edge, a d have uncapped it, but can't figure how to remove it. Do I need to remove the entire headliner first? And pics, methods...

Sounds like yours originally came with a fold down rear seat. Is the a cross brace between the trunk and the back of the rear seat, or is there a fold down partition? First pic is the crossbracing. Second is a pic of the fold down rear seat.

I made one out of the back panel from a Black Castrol 20w50 5 quart jug. Flexible, and worked fine.

They are not heated, but both are power. They do move forward and tilt to allow rear seat access, you just have to be patient. :)

No, but front mount holes are the same, the rear holes are drilled in the footwell of the backseat passenger floorboard, about 2.5" rearward of the original holes.

Make sure you brace it! Mine was made from 1/8" aluminum, but once installed with tends to vibrate up and down, buzzing and rattling. I put plenty of foam on it, but it still does it. It need stiffening to keep it from flexing, IMO.

I have received so much help, advice and knowledge from this site, it was the least I could do. I like to contribute whenever my limited experience allows.

A reference picture from a spare Instrument Panel, the screwdriver is pointing to the button. Pull out the light switch to turn the lights on, press this button, and the shaft will come right out. To reinstall, just push the shaft into place, no need to mess with the button.

My exhaust is just too loud. I may do different mufflers at some point, but can anyone comment on how well a sound barrier on the floor & firewall will reduce the engine exhaust?

Silly me. I thought the first pic was the finished thing, and I thought "Uhhh...wow". The I scrolled down and saw the ACTUAL finished product, and said WOW! Great looking work!
