    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

I thought the cable routing was out the back on all the Winters/Cheetah shifters?

If it ever stops raining, I'll have it up on jack stands and take pictures.

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

I'm running a GM 700r4. I had one in a Monte Carlo SS when I was younger and loved it.

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

The shifter rows through the gears flawlessly. No hanging up or issues at all.

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

For the record, I didn't do a lick of the work on the installation. HUGE thanks to Mulders Hot Rods in Brenham, TX for doing the excellent work on really short notice.

It's not mounted like they show you in the pretty pictures, but this thing isn't going anywhere. I'm super thrilled with the positioning. The gates are going to take some getting used to.

Wish I had seen the brackets (#8257) on page 2 sooner! Here's a pic of a bracket I painted last night. It's gold. The camera flash dulled the color.

Just got my plates in. Just need to paint them up and get ready to install tomorrow.

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

Thanks for the info. I bought a plate mount from a 4x4 shop that will replace the crappy Winters plastic cover. If it's strong enough for the rock crawling guys, it's probably strong enough for my application. I'll post pics once it's mounted in place.

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

Yep, kind of a confusing deal. The Turbo Action and Winters Sidewinder look very similar, yet somehow different.

Well, I guess mine will be one of a kind. :)

    Winters Sidewinder Shifter

Anyone running a Winters Sidewinder Shifter (once known as the Art Carr shifter)? If so, show how and where you mounted it and let me know if you had any issues with install. Mine is going in next week. Thanks!

Brian, Thanks for confirming my memory still works.:D

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

Thanks for the tip. I do have drum brakes in the rear. Wouldn't that be an issue at all times, rather than just during low speed turns?

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

I believe Strange sent the lube with the rearend, if memory serves. Although, that was a while ago and my memory isn't all that sharp.

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

I was thinking it was maybe the synthetic oil, but didn't want to say it as that always seems to open up a debate.

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

I'm pretty sure mine is a Trac-Lok. I'd have to look at the invoice, as it's been a while.

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

I haven't been hard on the rear-end at all (phrasing). Maybe 10 full throttle blasts and 400 total miles.

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

Thanks for your response It is a locker. I didn't hear the noise when the break-in oil was in it. However, once I changed out the gear oil, the noise began. I thought maybe I had an issue because of that. I'm about to drive the car 3000 miles, so want to be sure I don't have issue.

Strange S60 loud clicking at slow speed

I bought a new Strange S60 a couple years ago and after break-in, swapped the gear oil to Lucas synthetic. Ever since, the rearend makes a noticeable clicking sounds when turning at low speed. Once the car is warmed up and driven more than 20 miles, the clicking during slow speed turns goes...

    Drippy Slip Yoke

Any one know a permanent fix for a leaky slip yoke? Mine is dripping on my x-pipe after the car sits for a few days. I'm thinking permatex ultra black, but any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
