Wow, I have been shifting mine at 6500 for 13 years with the stock spring. What can happen to the spring?

    904 "braking" in 2nd gear

Odd problems like yours is usually caused by the trans trying to shift into two gears at once. I would suspect that the rear band may be trying to apply when you are in second. (or maybe direct clutch pack appling instead of rear band, either one would cause your problem) Second gear should...

    Full automatic race valve body??

I remember an article in mopar musle that they changed the springs behind the 1-2 and the 2-3 valve and were able to have a 6500 rpm auto shift point.

    8-3/4 Noise After Rebuild..What's Normal??

As it would be hard to trust there mechanical skills, it is harder to find a shop with good ethics than it is to find someone to just fix your car. Every shop will make a mistake or two along the way including our shop. I tell people if they require someone perfect to repair their car to call...

    Rear End Narrowing ?s

I installed green bearings on my sons swinger without removing the spacer but I have heard of others having trouble. You could remove some of the end of the axle but I wonder if there would be drum clearance issues when they are installed.

    Rear End Narrowing ?s

Intereresting question, I would look at the wear marks on the axle splines. This should give you a good idea of how much further the axles could slide into the differential. I would think 1/4 to 1/2 would work. You might try sliding the axles into third member after you have removed it and...

When I was 19 I was getting ready to overhaul my first transmission. It was a 727 out of my 74 satillite. I asked the old man down the road in the local trans shop if he had any advise for me. I will never forget his answer..... He spit some chew in the floor and said "If you don't know what...

    8-3/4 Noise After Rebuild..What's Normal??

Did you check the wear pattern when you installed the gears? At what speeds are you cornering? If it is above 30 mph or so, I do not think the noise would be the sure grip. The sure grip would not cause the noise when going straight either. If your cornering noise is at slow speeds then maybe...

This should be a sticky.(sure grips).

No matter what type of side gears, one or two piece, if the axles install correctly there is no damage done by rotating the gears with axle not installed. As far as I know all the splines are the same. There are different side bearing inside diameter measurements depending on what diff case you...

Hideous noise burning out .. Yikes !!!

You probably have a clutch type posi unit in your car. The clutches are replaceable. You can buy a kit with new clutchs in it at Randys Ring and Pinion or maybe even still at your local dodge dealer. A cone type usually is quiet when they get weak and start to slip. A clutch type makes all kinds...

This should be a sticky.(sure grips).

The warning about rotating the sure grip with only one axle installed applies only to cone type sure grips not clutch type sure grips. If you were to get the splines out of wack, it would prevent the axle shaft from sliding in all the way during installation. If your axles installed correctly...
