    Mopar Action subscription

There are links to Ehrenberg, Gromer and Stunkard at the bottom of the website. MoparAction I e-mailed Gromer about the subscription and got a quick response that MA was gone, but it was a personal e-mail address so I believe we can reach him and probably all authors at MA that way. I expressed...

    Mopar Action subscription

I wonder if we can persuade them to start an on-line version, perhaps without the current publisher and under a new name. The three principle authors, Gomer, Stunkard, Ehrenberg, provided essentially all the information. But they would have to make a profit at it to cover costs and living...

    1971 Demon 340 T/A build help

I am not trying to duplicate a 'Cuda T/A with my '68 FB 340, but I am trying to get the most out of a stock chassis. I had the USCT Level 2 chassis kit installed by AMD when I had my quarter panels replaced. That and the rear valance were the only rusty parts of my '68. I have had the car...

Am I alone in this world ? Lol !

I love old cars too, and have had my '68 FB FS for 54 years (June 1969 purchase date). But I also produce renewable fuels from waste. So I study all the issues involving renwable fuels and electric vehicles. There simply aren't enough resources available to power vehciles, especially trucks...

Jay Leno first to test drive Dodge's last V8 muscle car

The EPA is trying to kill the Internal Combustion Engine through emissions regulations. The next set of standards are so low that it will be very difficult and expensive to meet them as they now include CO2 regulations (Read Fuel Economy mandates). Current emissions standards are already so...

    A Body Road Trip Car

I had the speedo calibrated when I got a speeding ticket and changed the gear in the tailshaft to correct it. Back then, they drove the car over a measured mile and checked the Odo. Not real accurate, but close enough.

    A Body Road Trip Car

I was running H70x14's in the back. They were retread tires that had a sticky compound. The original owner of the Cuda back in '68 put them on as they had more traction than the E70x14's that were original. That wasn't hard to have more traction that those either!. But the retreads lased...

    A Body Road Trip Car

Thanks Jim. I should go through my slides of car shows in the Bay Area to see if there are any good ones of you. I do have this photo of you and my '67 383 FB on Cummins Skyway. I think I shared that before, but it is a good shot of you. That is a great road that few know about just above...

    Cost of Paint and Bodywork?!

I am restoring my '68 FS FB 340 and trying to do it right. Not a concours restoration, but upgrading what is important to make the car solid and safe. I had AMD replace the rear quarters and valance to repair damage to the car from before I purchased it in '69. Also fixed the rust in the...

    A Body Road Trip Car

I built this combo in 1977 when I was in graduate school in SoCal. Energy crisis made me want better MPG than the '68 340 provided, so I rebuilt the engine with a 318 cam, ran a SP2P intake with the stock AVS and re-jetted for best economy. Ran a 4 core desert cooler radiator and electric fan...

    Cost of Paint and Bodywork?!

I am currently about 85% doen with my '68 FB FS 340 and will have probaby $60K into it total. But I didn't skimp in any of the body work or paint. New rear quarter panels, rear valance, USCT Stage 2 stiffening kit all cost about $15K at AMD. But boy did they do good work. I got the last '68...

    67 GTS Value

Exhaust manifolds are unique to each year of 383 A-body. Those are expensive to find. I restored a '67 383 Formula S FB Cuda in the late 1980's when parts were available and relatively low cost. This was a true basket case car. Photo on left. Jim Lusk knows this one well. The engine was...

    First 1967 383 installed in a Barracuda

Years ago I got a '67 FB Formula S 383 'Cuda that was MM Copper. The build sheet is attached. The sequence number is 306138, so it is probably a late build. Friends and I restored the car in Benecia, CA in the late 1980's and I had it painted B7 dark blue. It was sold to Bill Barbee in 1993...

Whats the best time for a factory stock duster 1/4 miles ??

Altitude also makes a major difference. My Cuda is nowhere near as quick at Bandimere (5800') than it was in SoCal at 100'!

Whats the best time for a factory stock duster 1/4 miles ??

I got my '68 FB FS 340 in June 1969 from the original owner. It had 17,000 miles on it and cost me $1700, plus $100 for the Cragar's on it. Never saw the original wheels and tires, so he must have left them with the shop that put on the Cragar's. I took the 'Cuda to all the drag strips in...

Whats the best time for a factory stock duster 1/4 miles ??

The discussion about how fast a stock 340 was is always interesting. As a very long term owner of a 1968 Formula S Fastback, I can state that 13.5 @ 105 is doable with a stock engine. My 'Cuda was purchased from the original owner in June 1969 while I was a junior in HS. I raced it in stock...

    Match Race ~ 1970 'Duster 340' vs. 1969 Mustang 'Mach 1' 351W

This thread reminded me of some of my runs in my '68 Barracuda Formula S 340 back in the early 1970's. I got the car in June, 1969 used for $1700 with 17,000 miles on it. After a few tries at the track, I was able to get the car reliably in the 13.50's at 105. That was quick for a 340, but...

    Anti-Theft Suggestions.

For quite a while, I used a Master Lock placed right in the hood release slot. Worked fine, couldn't move the hood release lever far enough to release the latch. No chain, just a key needed. All you need to do to disable the car at this point is remove the lead to the ballast resistor and the...

    Oops!

Crazy 4Sp driver probably dropped the clutch on it real hard. Just like I do in my '09 Challenger. My Cuda is an Auto with a standard 741 case 3:55. I have 200,000 miles on it and maybe 400 runs, and it still works! Nock on wood! Good luck with the new gears!
