1.5 or 1.6 ratio how to choose?

Thanks. That was back in the days when I had a cushy side gig writing for Motor Trend. They would pay me $1500 for the article and the vendors would send me the parts at a discount or sometimes for free. I had to do all the labor and pay for the dyno time, but I usually broke even once I cashed...

1.5 or 1.6 ratio how to choose?

Depends on the lift. A higher rocker arm ratio won't change the advertised duration much, but it can easily double or triple the duration at the higher valve lifts. Of course, those events happen very, very quickly so it might not have much effect on power. On my 511 race engine I would pick up...

1.5 or 1.6 ratio how to choose?

Higher ratios add duration at the higher lifts points. Adds more area under the curve.

1.5 or 1.6 ratio how to choose?

Sometimes more ratio helps and sometimes it doesn't. I spent a few thousand dollars proving this. https://www.motortrend.com/articles/trying-find-extra-power-rocker-arm-testing/

Machinist will not build engine unless roller cam is used!

We highly recommend hyd rollers for all street performance engines. Flat tappet failures have been very common over the last 10 years due to a combination of changes to oil as well as the loss of Johnson lifters. Once Johnson went away the lifter market was taken over by low quality offshore...

What donor vehicle to get disc brakes setup from for 72 swinger.

Depends on what you mean by "much newer". 40 years ago that statement was true but these days the parts cars are not much newer, they are roughly the same age. You used to be able to go to a wrecking yard and grab the brakes from a FMJ car for a quick disc brake upgrade. If you were smart you...

chrome plating shops in NorCal or Nevada?

I'm always amazed when I see the chrome plating that the TV shows get. Iron Resurrection has someone who does really nice chrome for them. I looked last year for a chrome shop and came up empty. One guy in CA said he could do some chrome work for me but all he did was ruin the parts. I'm tempted...

Sacramento County ban on home “major auto repair”

I don't do any major repairs in my home shop, just minor stuff. It is minor since I know how to do it. Major would be something I didn't know how to do or have tools for. This Duster project was a minor repair for example.

Sacramento County ban on home “major auto repair”

I have an overhead crane in my home shop. Wonder what the code enforcement guy would do about that?
