    A Loss

Hello, I'm guessing this is where I should post this. This is Sue, the wife Matt may have mentioned on occasion. I am so sad to tell you that Slantsick passed away suddenly on January 28. He was the sweetest, most interesting person I have ever known, my heart and soul for almost 14 years, my...

Unwanted cars of the 70's. Post yours!

Not me- but then, my mom had it's twin (except for the wheels of course) when I was a kid- great car. Probably where my love for wagons started.

Unwanted cars of the 70's. Post yours!

Depends who you ask, I guess- I owned a '70 and a '73 Dart, both slant 6, both 4 door. That's a good thing to me, but lots of people seem to disagree. Closest thing I've owned that fits the bill was a two-tone grey '82 Fairmont 2-door sedan w/ the 2.3 four-cylinder- what a dog.

    ramcharger wheels

While I must admit a fondness for the giant chrome frisbee caps you described- my parents had an '84 Ram B350 van w/ those same caps for years and years... steelies and dogdishes is always the right answer. I'd leave them the color they are, too.

    Ahhh Snow in August.

Don't worry- that hurricane will have to spend the day before it gets to you chewing up the Maine coast.. all that Massachusetts-owned beachfront property oughta satisfy it. If not, a platoon of amateur Maine humorist-historians (anybody over 25, in other words) will hop in our rusty '78...

    What's Up???

I was just about to dispatch the team of St Bernards with kegs of Schlitz and 20w50 to find you and your "lesser half".. I need my fix of four-door Dart posts; it's been almost a month. Hope you keep in touch- we do miss you guys.

ROOSTER COGBURN IS BACK!!!! sort of....

Well, generally I'd say I'm against "remakes", especially of movies that were about as good as they could be in their time. And I'm a huge John Wayne fan. But, this is a Coen brothers movie (Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, etc.), so you can rest easy it's not gonna be some...

    one hit wonders

Love this song. "Come On Eileen" may have been the only "hit" from Dexy's- I think it was used in a John Hughes movie or something -but that whole album (Too-Rye-Ay) is fantastic. Likewise, Men At Work ("Who Can It Be Now?"/"Down Under") got thought of as something of a novelty band, but...

'92 F150 Digital odo gone haywire

"Service"? "Resale"? :sign5: She should get more "service" than she does, but we're not selling her under any circumstances.. when this truck finally gives up the ghost in a non-repairable way, she's welcome to quietly rot away in the front yard until she completely disintegrates- I'm not gonna...

'92 F150 Digital odo gone haywire

Kind of a long shot, but I know a few of you guys own /owned Ford trucks in the same age-range as mine, so maybe one of you guys has experienced something similiar.. OK- basically, a few months ago I glanced down at the F150's odo, which read 261,8xx. A week later, it read 261,6xx. I figured I...

    am i going insane?

Ditching a '90s GM product is never insane. If you said you traded your Blazer for this, I'd still give you the thumbs up.

Love that GMC. A couple more from CIA Salvage. (They oughta change their name, they don't "salvage" much these days, they crush it all :angry7:)

    Points to Ponder

    What's the WORST car/truck you've owned?

Yeah, the "PRV" six.. P and R stand for Peugeot and Renault respectively, so that tells you something. Same engine that was in the DeLorean, parethetically. They had a problem (later corrected, I understand) with oil starvation in the top end. As you say, the ol' slant 4 was essentially...

    Embarrassing '80's Bands

Pretty well covered right there, but I've got two words for ya: A-ha. And actually, alot of that stuff was (is) good music.. just depends on whether you like synthesizers, I guess. Being born in '76, I didn't really have any choice but to like it. At home, I had my father's massive collection...

    What's the WORST car/truck you've owned?

I think it's arguable how "American" any car or truck built during the last 30 years plus really is.. StrokerScamp's "Chevy" LUV? Isuzu. Another guy mentioned a first-year S10- again, Isuzu. First year Horizon/Omni- Simca chassis with a Volkwagon engine. Pinto? Yes, most of it's dangerous design...

    What's the WORST car/truck you've owned?

Man, you mean I have to pick just one? Okay, I guess I could just lump all the GM FWD V6 shitboxes I've owned together- in the friggin crusher, preferably. The first was an Olds Cutlass Ciera I got from the local used car dealer (MISTAKE) after my '70 Dart was T-boned. Great car, right? Working...

    Post up your daily driver!

Some sweet rides here- love that '65 Comet. I guess the F150 really is the best-selling truck in America.. here's the latest pic of Lady Kathleen De Rattlerod, '92 F150 4x4, 300 six auto, approx. 265-270K (apparently it's possible for a digital odo to reach it's mechanical limits).

You gotta love peoples "car knowledge"

Too many examples to count- I run into a lot of Chevy guys. One of the worst though, was meeting a guy in a 7-11 parking lot with a sweet '69 Swinger. Naturally I complemented him on it, to which he responded, "Actually, it's a 1970." We were standing about ten feet from my '70 Dart at the...

    My Non-Mopar $400.00 score...

Thanks to their later offerings, the very word "Buick" is profanity in my family- but hell, at least the engine points the right way in this one, and powers the correct pair of wheels.. and I love the color combo.

    driving tunes

Ha! They're great. I don't know anybody who's even heard of them. I listen to a lot of bluegrass, in the car and out.. can definitely get a guy in trouble if he responds to the tempo with his foot. I think I'd stack just about any banjo player up against the hard rock/metal guitar virtuosos...

So what prompted you to choose your user name?

Do some people call you a space cowboy? (I'm sorry- I couldn't help myself. ) I guess mine's fairly obvious, really.. When I was growing up, my parents had about a half a dozen Darts, two Valiants, a Volare wagon, a '78 Tradesman and an '84 Ram B350- all slant powered. My first two cars were...
