Does a '69 air cleaner look wrong on a '70 Dart Swinger 340

I had one on my 340 back in '80

Does a '69 air cleaner look wrong on a '70 Dart Swinger 340

I thought they were more than that? You know...inflation. Either way the divorce costs would be the killer. ps there is a nice air cleaner for sale locally for $1250 but I can't do it

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Yeah if I wanted peak power I would have put in a roller cam to start. Its a slippery slope as they say :)

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Yeah I'd probably buy the XE268 cam if I had to pick something else. Its got a 110 LSA.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

I forgot to put a smilie....my post was tongue in cheek. Most street engines aren't designed for peak hp/tq as there are other considerations.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

I guess my stock 340 build is going to suck with my '68 4 speed cam (114 LSA installed at 112)

    Lifter preload...more or less?

Why is the valve train noisy? Taking the shims (rocker shaft shims I assume) out adds to the preload. If you already have 0.125" preload I don't see how adding more preload would quiet things down. I could see it if you had zero or less preload to start.

    Lifter preload...more or less?

You have 0.125" of preload? Are you sure about the measured pushrod length? How much came off the heads? The Mancini shim kit come with 0.030,0.015 and 0.010" but its too much to shim in my opinion. I would be buying the shorter pushrods and shimming possibly. Of course adjustable rockers...

    Swap pistons for quench?

Don’t forget the rebalancing cost with new pistons. I also vote no for chasing quench when you already got parts.

    Purple cam for SB.

If you have to have that grind you could probably get it from Oregon Cams

Do your research but I believe these are stock replacements at stock weight...its been awhile since I was looking at this UEM Pistons

    Hyd Lifter refinish .

I bought the 68 4 speed cam from Oregon Cams and used the lifters they supplied (Federal Mogul). They survived the break in stand so far :)

    408 stroker rod bolt interference?

It could be worse. I bought an early stroker ‘ kit’ (haha) and the pistons hit the crank. No warranty.

    340 BREAK IN

I’m a believer too when it comes to test running new engines. My test stand is fugly for one time use. I found a leaky frost plug which would be tough to fix in the car.

I just broke in a very similar engine. How long are you supposed to leave the breakin oil for?

    No oil to top end

I've bought a ton of parts over the last 3 years...mostly offshore I will guess. I do try to buy name brands ie Raybestos, Melling, Felpro, etc and the only issues I had were with a Milodon oil pan that was made wrong (they admitted it) and a Fel Pro molded oil pan gasket (SBC) that didn't fit...

    No oil to top end

If you take 2 new parts out of the box and they both don't work don't you start asking yourself some questions about your troubleshooting? Maybe you overlooked something? I would. ps Are any common parts made in the US anymore? Not much and that ain't coming back.

How many cars are on the road and how many fail because of a failed oil pump? It’s extremely rare

    No oil to top end

You would think that the drill would burn out if there was any load on the pump. Did the drill load up? I would check for a plugged pickup tube screen.

    No oil to top end

Sounds like bigger issues than no oil to the top end. The gear should come out with a pull and a twist. I use a big magnet to grab it.

    No oil to top end

Was wondering the same thing. We’re assuming you have good oil pressure. It’s not a complex system and there is not much to go wrong . Wiped out cam bearings might do it but that is rare. You must have made an incorrect assumption somewhere like the rocker shafts being installed correctly...

    No oil to top end

I'm not clear on what you tried. If the rocker shafts are put on backwards they will block all oil flow to the top end. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/stock-rocker-shaft-oil-hole-orientation.416613/
