Sounds like the coolant temp sensor is reading way cold. I would start there, it is not an uncommon issue.

I beg to differ. i know a guy running a 408 with J heads and cast intake that is running mid 11's. The cam is massive though. i would think 400hp is very doable and not bad #'s for any small block.

Maybe a myth, but a friend took his late 70's 360 to 0.060" and the cylinder were full of sandy holes. Myth proven? Probably ok at 20 or 30 over.
