So I ordered up my ARP flex plate to crank bolts #240-2801. The bolts will not seat all the down, seems they are 1/4" too long. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I installed the balancer on my 360 and when turning it over by hand I noticed the damper kind of pulls away at one point when watching the damper come around past the timing marks on the timing chain cover. Moves 1/16 of an inch or so. Is this normal? Thank you.

I've never heard of using a stud instead of a bolt? Maybe' I'll try that. The motor is still together. Thank you.

I have a total of 1 1/2" of total thread in the crank. The first 1/2" from the front looks sketchy. The remaining 1" of thread looks to be in good shape.

Well I ran a 3/4-16 tap through the threads the first 1/2" of threads are shot, the last half are in good shape they go about 1/8" from the bottom. I'm going to pull the crank and bring it in.

I've ditched the front end seal and used only Black RTV in the past with great results. Anyone else done this?

Ok, thanks for all the replies and help. I picked up a 3/4-16 tap so I'll try to clean up the threads. If that doesn't work I'll have to clean up the hole and retap a larger size I guess. Thanks!
