    Offy SB intake…. Any good??

Run it, it's a good manifold , I ran one for a while before I switched to at Holley Strip Dominator . I got it from Ed Hamburger, I was running an Edelbrock Torqer ,He said " take that Torqer off and go out in the back yard and throw it as far as you can " ! I didn't throw it away ,but I did...

Anyone running old school adjustable Rocker Arms on Eddy 60779 heads?

Nothing wrong with those rockers, they are durable enough but the only thing I would add is their ratio is in the 1.45 range and it will cost you some lift. I run the Crane forged 1.6 iron rockers , a true 1.6 ratio and just as durable and affordable if you can find them now . Just FYI .

    Fel Pro 1213

I use stainless steel shim .021 thick, picked up from metal shop cheap. Cut to fit allowing about .200 overlap and using contact cement like super glue to hold the plates in place , works great, I have to pry them off with a screw driver when I have to remove the plates . It works for me .

    Intake Manifold Question

Metal shops will have the thin stainless you need and cheap. I don't know the gauge size but mine are .017 thick. I cut it to fit and used contact cement to hold in place until manifold was bolted on. No issues , 30 years and have pulled the heads a few times over the years , and the stainless...

That is five equations, this method has four . To each is own . Bore X Bore X Stroke X 6.2832 Bore X bore X Stroke X .7854 X cylinders

Visited with my engine block today....

    Bore X Bore X Stroke X 6.2832 (Pi X 2 ) This is for 8 cylinders . 6 cylinders is 4.7124. 4 cylinders is 3.1416 . You have 386.75 CID .

    273 adjustable rocker arms

NM9 I do believe that is what I said. If you subtract .010 from advertised lobe lift and do your math (multiply by rocker ration then minus lash unless it is hyd. cam) this will give you "true" actual lift at the valve. Works with any cam in the small block Mopar . Try this.

    273 adjustable rocker arms

I always check the rocker ratio on any engine I build. I keep a block close by for testing purposes only. The Mopar factory mechanical '273' rockers are very strong and durable, I find them in the 1.45 range. Best being 1.51 and worst 1.41 . Also with the pushrod and lifter not being 'in-plane'...

    Block codes or 'VIN'

Does anyone know the Mopar 'keys' for decoding the block or VIN numbers on the passenger side of the block above the oil pan rail ? Thanks. Terry

    340 528. Purple cam question

I ran that cam in my '72 Duster 340. EXCELLENT cam with awesome sound ! Wish I had kept that cam. My combo was : 915 castings , ported by me with 2.02/1.600 valves flowed [email protected] lift. harlin sharp 1.65 rockers, .030 over 9.5c.r. , 1 3/4 hooker super comp's. Where did the small block dyno proven combo archive go?

I have used that Mopar small mechanical 653 cam. 284/528 worked GREAT and sounded good ! Easy on parts and good enough to send you deep into the 11's ask me how I know. I liked that cam wish I hadn't sold it. EXCELLENT street manors too.

Valve lash with a 528 solid.

71Valiant, that is a GOOD cam you will love it ! I ran mid 11's with that cam and it was mild on the street too. Good vacuum with that cam. I ran mine @ .024/.026 never a problem. Wicked sounding too. Terry

    Standard Rocker ratios

What he said. I checked all the ones I had About 3 sets and the worst was 1.41 and best was 1.51 . Most were in the 1.44-1.45 range. They are strong and durable enough but they will hurt your lift. Terry

    What he said. exactly right.

Blocking the heat crossover, IN the head.

I block them off, worth it to me. Street manors are good. There is a reason why head and manifold manufactures go to the trouble and expense to cast performance heads and manifolds without that crossover . I use stainless sheet .021 thick. I cut a piece the same exact shape as the opening but...

    1971 340's True HP?

My understanding is NHRA immediately refactored the '68 to '70 340 to 310 HP when it came out in 68 and the '70 six pac to 325 and the '71 340 to 330 . The '71 was the hottest of the factory 340's with it's Thermo Quad ( listed as 800 but actually 737 cfm) and wonderfully designed TQ manifold...

    Good Cam for 69 340

I would'nt use the stock stamped rockers even mild performance street engines. The ratio's are less than poor. listed as a 1.5 but are really 1.41 to 1.45 leaving a lot of lift (power) on the table. a Few years ago I tested many sets and best one was 1.45 worst was 1.41 most were in the middle...
