    XR274HR-10 in 318

Would I need to mill the intake side as well?

Yes, they sit down in the hole just like that.

    XR274HR-10 in 318

The purpose of this setup is for street cruising... Daily driven occasionally and riding out-of-town on the weekends. I Love the lower RPM torque, but it seems to fall on its face in the mid-high RPM range.

    XR274HR-10 in 318

The factory roller cam is in it now. I want a Street/Strip setup, but nothing too wild. I do a lot of cruising and will make a few passes at the track from time to time. I do care about low end torque. I'm not dedicated on buying the cam I posted. If there is a better choice for my setup, lay...

    XR274HR-10 in 318

I haven't done anything to the heads yet. I plan on having them ported and adding 1.88/1.60 valves. As far as the compression ratio, I think these engines are rated at 9:1 if I'm not mistaken. I'm a little skeptical on the converter... I was browsing around trying to collect information and...

    XR274HR-10 in 318

I was wondering if anyone ran this cam in their 318 or do I need to go with another cam choice... My Setup: '87 Roller 318, Edelbrock 750, Weiand Action+Plus Intake, 302 Casting Heads, HEI Distributor (Have A Unilite Also), Shorty Headers, A904 with High Stall & Low First Gear Set, 3.55 Gears...

    need recommendations for more power

Maybe 500 HP or so is doable with the 340 factory block. You'll be looking at a Ritter "XR" Racing Block or an HR-1 Engine Block for your goal in mind.

    1968 Barracuda 318 Smoking....good compression

From my previous experience, the valve seals and valve cover gaskets would cause those symptoms.

    340 x heads on a 70 318

This thread is heating up :D I had a guy tell me to put 360 heads on my 318 without milling or anything, but I've heard so many people say to have the heads milled. I know everything on the internet is true (Lol!), but I'd rather "measure twice and cut once" with my setup. So far, I'm loving my...

    340 x heads on a 70 318

Would milling the 302's and running a thin gasket help a little or a lot? I've heard different numbers on how much to mill the heads before you have to mill the intake side.

    340 x heads on a 70 318

No 360 Fans allowed :D Don't be afraid to keep the 318. Lol! I had the opportunity to purchase a 360 for a killer price, but refused because I had so many people tell me that a 318 won't do this or that. I've hurt a lot of feelings. I would go with the "302 casting" heads (that's what I...

Sealing a exhaust bolt hole leak

I think the only way to seal it up good is to recoil the hole and use a high temperature thread sealer to glue it in with. Then, tap the threads to remove excess thread sealer. :dontknow: That's just my opinion.

Wiped a Cam Lobe. Total rebuild??

I would pull the rotating assembly and replace the bearings and rings. Inspect the crank to make sure there are no grooves. Make sure you clean the oil passages thoroughly. You'll be able to sleep at night ;)

    stumble/hesitation

True. Bumping up the timing helped when I was in the same situation. I do believe 10-12 is about right. Somebody else may want to confirm this.

Wanna ditch the 90° oil filter adapter.

You wouldn't use a taller filter if you don't have the proper clearance between your manifolds and block. You may have to unbolt the manifold to change the filter if the clearance is that bad. :thumleft: 3.404" Height

    The PH16 = 3.688" The PH43 = 4.000"

    Looking for cam help

In my daily driver, I have 3.55 gears with a 26" tire. I run an A904 w/ Factory High Stall, though. I made a thread almost two weeks ago about the Howards Cam "rumblefish360" listed. I've had my eye on that cam for a while now. Hopefully, I'll be ordering it in a few weeks. I think it will...

    how much for a non-running 318???

Lol! I understand. I paid $250 for my 318 and didn't hear it run at all. I took a gamble, but it was worth it. I had all the parts for a rebuild laying around. I got a nice surprise when I pulled the valve covers and intake off :D Once I saw that the rings, bearings, and cylinder walls were in...
