Have the Lunati version of that in my 416. Idles at 800, plenty of vac for brakes, and plenty of torque on the street.

The k-frame notch required is very small and the pan doesn't hang that low. Carbide bit on a air grinder, your done in 5 min. Here`s how low the 30935 Milodon pan hangs on mine.

I used the Milodon 30935 8 qt pan and definetly had to notch the k-frame.

If you get them up high enough the engine and trans (with headers) practically jump up into the car!

I sick em in from the bottom with the headers on! Probably not OSHA approved.

Yup, just lay the old style on top of the new one piece and cut thru the steel core. Seals up way better, doesnt crush, and wont shrink like cork. Gotta seal the corners with RTV no matter what gasket you use. Worked great on my Milodon pan#30935.

I used the Felpro OS 34409 R Magnum oil pan gskt on my 71 340-416, just cut the one piece gskt up to match the old style side pieces and use the old style end pieces with a dab of RTV in the corners. Works nice with no crush issues.

Picked up a boat 71 340 block a couple years ago, at least I think it was a boat block because there were no serial numbers stamped in the block and the dip stick hole had a plug in it. Was just a block and main caps but I put a Muscle Motors 416 forged stroker kit in it and stuffed it in my 71...

Used Muscle Motors for all forged balanced 416 kit, great parts,perfect fit, give Eric there a call.

Thanks crazyguy....I might just try that flywheel trick if I can find a used internally balanced one. maybe ebay. Would love to use a dyno to break it in but after coughing up all the coin for the stroker parts I don`t think in gonna have enough cash left to get that fancy new cubic zirconia...

Hi, almost done putting the 416 together. I would like to break in engine before it goes in the car on shop floor. Its an automatic car so im looking for options on cranking engine over with out having to completely hook up auto trans to engine. You guys have any tricks for this ? Thanks

Thanks Steve, I`m really looking for a forged kit that can handle 500 hp and stay together for a while for street use and the few times a year it gets to the track. Trying to make picking the right kit as easy as possible without having to wonder if all the parts are correct and balanced...
