    valve seal question

Yes. I believe that is what the factory installed and it is also what I received from Fel-Pro for replacements.

'67 273 valve oil seal replacement

Update: After a rainy weather period, I'm back to driving this car, so I'll see if the oil consumption has dropped- 75 miles so far. After the valve oil seal job, I did a preliminary valve lash adjustment (cold) with a little extra clearance over factory spec to account for thermal...

'67 273 valve oil seal replacement

Decided to replace the valve oil seals today in my 67 Barracuda 273 2bbl. I bought this car with 60Kmiles in Sept 1974 and have owned it ever since, oil seals are probably the factory originals. Oil consumption is up and I’m doing this first because A) it’s easy and B) cheap at $16 for parts...

What oil filter do you run and why

I used to think Frams were good filters. Then, I had one fall apart internally while on my car. Kinda strange to take a filter off the car and feel the internal element rattling around in the can. Never bought another Fram after that. Never will.

Compression Check low oil pressure Now What?

No promises, but consider running an engine flush followed by an oil change. Use Gunk 5 Minute Engine flush added to the oil, according to directions. I've treated a few neglected engines with good results. Seems to do no harm, increased oil pressure in some engine, reduced oil consumption...

    67 273 Timing

I checked my '67 factory manual for 273 timing specs. For non C.A.P. engines Timing spec for a 2bbl manual transmission is 5 degrees BTDC Timing spec for a 2 bbl automatic and all 4 bbl is 10 degrees BTDC. All C.A.P. 273's are speced at 5 ATDC. There are differences in the...

    67 273 Timing

Redfish- didn't you run that engine at 16 degrees BTDC right after the electronic distributor conversion? Seem to recall finding an old post to that effect. When you say "advance disconnected", that's the vacuum advance, right?

    67 273 Timing

Interesting. Those of you running 10-12 degrees BTDC on a '67 273- are these manual or automatic transmission cars? 2 bbl or 4 bbl? IIRC, there are differences in original timing specs based on these different options. Wish I had my factory manual handy to confirm. Also, factory original...

    67 273 Timing

My 2 bbl 273 set at 6 BTDC. The spec, IIRC, is 5 +/- 2 degrees BTDC. Try 5 and 7, see if you can tell a difference, pick what suits you. I tried 12 BTDC, but that was too much advance at higher rpm.. I have a Mopar Performance electronic ignition on mine.
