Might want to check that the wires to the coil are not reversed. If they are you will have a VERY weak spark and hard starting when hot. Easy mistake to make if you've changed anything around.

Oh well gauges are on their way and I'll soon find out. If information I have is wrong your fix will be very usefull.
Am in the process of adding custom gauges myself and needed to know what fuel gauge is compatible with stock sending unit. [1975 Scamp]
Correct one is 73-10 ohms. Some will be listed as 73-8 or 73-12 but 73 is the crucial number.
