    Summit exhaust

Exactly correct. Work from back to front. Their kits are for Hooker headers and anything else will probably require some fabrication.

    LOUD Exhaust Tamed.........

I thought about doing that back in the 90's with Dynamat but I didn't want to add weight to the car and even worse, I was afraid it would trap moisture against the floor and rot it out. Also, I just love a loud car as long as it sounds good.

Need your help on 383 Dart exhaust

That may be true. There has to be some reason that they can do a system for well under half the price that a shop can.

Need your help on 383 Dart exhaust

I don't know about that. I know a couple of guys who used the Summit stuff and love it. Jegs has essentially the exact same stuff.

Need your help on 383 Dart exhaust

Man! Even TTi is less than that.

    Summit brand exhaust kits

Everything sounds great except for the FedEx part. I have had so many problems with FedEx I would rather drive across the country and pick something up than use them. I have ordered from both Summit and Jegs and have been completely saitsfied with both.

    Summit brand exhaust kits

Wow. $165? The Summit 3 inch X pipe kit is only $95 and you can buy dumps for like $30 and weld them on.

    Summit brand exhaust kits

I can't use any of the complete systems because of my fenderwell headers. None of the kits match up to them.

    Summit brand exhaust kits

I was thinking about getting their X pipe kit and fabricating pipes to match it to my Supercomp fenderwell headers.

    Damn header leaks! wtd?

I don't know why I didn't mention this in my first post but I cut the gaskets into three pieces. One for the front port, one for the middle two, and one for the rear, and throw away the useless parts in between that just discolor and warp. I use just enough of the copper RTV to stick the gasket...

    Damn header leaks! wtd?

I have always used Mr. Gasket or Fel-pro with Permatex copper sealer. No problems with my 11.5 to 1 compression 383. Worst case scenario - you can have someone run a weld bead around each port and grind them flat around 1/16" to 1/8" higher than the flange. I know some guys who have done this on...

Who Makes The Most Quiet Muffler for 68 340 GTS

You may want to reconsider this. Quiet almost always means RESTRICTIVE, meaning LESS POWER. I put Walker Ultraflo race mufflers on my '69 383 formula S and never regretted it. It is loud but I have never been pulled over for it and it sounds GREAT and makes great power.

TTi exhaust kit, or haul it to the muffler shop?

Oh, by the way, to answer the question, I have had mine for over 25 years and until death do us part.

TTi exhaust kit, or haul it to the muffler shop?

I need to put a new system on my car too but TTI will not work. I have fenderwell headers. I can't decide between getting Summit's 3 inch complete exhaust system and 3 inch H pipe (with TTI's 3 inch tips) and having just the head pipes fabricated or letting a shop fab the whole system. It is not...

    exhaust manifolds

If the engine is going to have any balls go with headers. No reason to bother with manifolds unless you are going for a factory-stock appearance.

    Header gaskets

I am about to pull my super comps and have them re-coated. Through the years I have used just about every major brand and type of header gaskets and nothing seems to last very long before leaking. Yes, I always make sure they are positioned and installed correctly but it usually is not too long...

    Anybody use Summit's exhaust kit

Man, and I thought Year One was unreasonable at $100 each. At least they offer 2½ or 3 inch for systems with or without tailpipes for the same price. $123 each is insane.

    Anybody use Summit's exhaust kit

Year One has tailpipes in 2¼ or 2½ for systems with or without factory tips. The only problem is that they cost the same as the whole summit kit. $100 each side. Pass the vasoline.

    Anybody use Summit's exhaust kit

I am thinking about using their 3 inch kit and 3 inch balance tube kit on my car but I will need to buy some extra parts and do some fabrication to make it fit a car with fenderwell headers and factory tips. I have not shopped around for prices on a custom-bent system from a local shop but I'll...

Flowmaster Super 40 vs. Original 40

I have more pics of the car than I do of my family. I bought the same welded Ultraflos that Dusterb318 has.

Flowmaster Super 40 vs. Original 40

If your ears are ringing I may be in trouble. My 69 383 S has 11.5 to 1 compression and Hooker supercomp fenderwell headers. This spring I am putting on a completely new 3 inch system with an H pipe and Dynomax Ultraflo race mufflers. I may go to 2½ inch for the tailpipes if the 3 inchers are...

    Dart Swinger340 h-pipe

IT doesn't bolt in. It is 2 "T" pipes and a choice of straight or bent crossovers. You cut the head pipes and put it wherever you want.

    Dart Swinger340 h-pipe

Summit has a nice kit in 2¼ or 2½ for like $35.

    Header Coating

Man. 4.56's? Steep street gear. When I got my car back in 1982 it had the original 383, balanced and blueprinted, 11.5 to 1's, and the DC 528 lift / 284 duration mechanical cam with a holley 850 race carb on a single plane intake. It had the original 833 4-speed and a Dana 60 with 5.38's! I...

    Header Coating

Thanks for the input everyone. I found a place in Delaware called Powderbarons that does white ceramic coating. I'll check with Swain too.

    Header Coating

The time has come to pull the hooker Super Comp fenderwell headers off of my '69 383 Formula S and have them re-coated. Lots of people coat headers. I can not find one place that does them in WHITE. Does anyone know who does? Mine were aluma-coated white around 15 years ago. They held up very...
