    Realistic horespower gain

Dosn't sound like 10-15hp is worth the money for a nice set of headers. I was considering Dougs but I was hoping for more gains. I could see spending a couple hundred bucks. But you get what you pay for. Converter would be nice but again you get what you pay for.

    Realistic horespower gain

Whats a realistic horespower gain for my Duster if I switched to headers? here are my specs. 74 Duster with matching 318 and 904. Both been rebuilt. 318 is 9:1 with a 340 cam and valve springs. edelbrock performer intake and 600cfm carb. Heads are basically stock except for a valve job...

Power loss. 318 Vs 340 manifolds

This is an interesting thread as I have been debating the same thing. Not to hijack but are the hp manifolds from say a '68 dart the same from a '71 cuda? Meaning regardless of car will they all bolt up to any small block in any model wheather a,b,e body? I have a mild 9:1 318 with 340...

    Another spitfire thread/question

Thanks for info, looks tight but then again early a-bodys have smaller engine bays. Looks like a clean fit and they seem like they are well made. Thanks again

    Another spitfire thread/question

I seem to hear a lot about spitfire hearders. A buddy from work swears by them. But he was telling me Harold builds them for early a-bodies. He said that my car they would slide right in with no issues. I have a '74 duster 318/auto with power steering. Can this be done? Or is it too good to be...

    340 exhaust manifold questions

Seems like a very good price. I have seen rusty sets at swap meets for $400. Is it really necessary to use the 90 degree filter adapter on the 318's? I plan on doing the hp manifold mod sometime down the road but sure hope I don't need the adapter to make it work.

    Thinking of exhaust mod

Thanks for everyones feedback. I stopped by my local midas today to get an approximate estimate. First I asked about welding in an h-pipe. He seemed confused why I would do such a thing. Saying there would be no advantage in flow or increase in horsepower. But if I really wanted it done he...

    Thinking of exhaust mod

I have been reading about h-pipes and x-pipes and am very impressed. Especially with the x-pipe design. My Duster currently has full straight duel exhaust that was installed in 2006. I was debating about having an x-pipe welded in the current system. But now I am thinking about doing an h-pipe...

    block huggers?

Thanks for everyones feedback, I thought it was too good to be true. TTI's sound like the right ones, just pricey.

    block huggers?

What about these patriot ones. Probably the same problem. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-Patriot-Tight-Tuck-Hot-Rod-Headers-Mopar-SB-318-360_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33631QQihZ002QQitemZ120269021327QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

    block huggers?

Has anyone use these before? What are your thoughts? Sounds like they would clear everything in the engine bay. Almost sounds too good to be true, probably is...

    Difference in manifolds

Right now my '74 318 has manifolds that came off a different 318. Don't know what year. Would 340 manifolds make a noticable difference in power? I know they flow better. Later this winter I may have a chance to get a pair. My engine also has a 340 cam, performer intake, and the 318 heads had...

    Headers for 318 Duster w/ p/s

My Duster is a 1974 with 318 and power steering. It had hooker headers when I bought it but I couldn't stand the fact that they hung so low, so we got flowtech headers for it and they were almost the exact same design and the fit was terrible. Then my starter went out and it was impossible to...

    318 exhaust cutouts

Im sure it would sound better with headers. I would only do it with the manifolds if I could find them cheap. Like $30-40 or so. If it didn't sound good I could always leave them close. Are the power gains any noticable? I also heard fuel economy is slightly increased.

    318 exhaust cutouts

Back in the summer my starter went out and had to be re-placed. Only problem was it would be impossible to to get to the starter becasue thats when I had headers on it. They were in the way. So we cut the headers into pieces becasue I was going to put manifolds on. When we put the new starter...

    318 exhaust cutouts

Has anyone ever put exhaust cutouts on a 318? Eventhough I am sticking with the manifolds I purchased for it, my buddy can weld some cutouts in. I have seen the setup with headers, but I know it should work with manifolds. I just thought it would be so cool to have open exhaust whenever I...
