it should fit then I have a 318 in my 66 barracuda with power steering and original 1966 exhaust manifolds as it came from the factory, it's tight but it fits fine I think we need some pics to figure out what is going wrong

are you using the correct early V8 exhaust manifold?

66 and earlier K members are all the same V8 or /6, the dakota exaust manifolds will only work with manual steering and floor shift automatic, you will still need to do some grinding of the drivers side manifold and possibly shimming the motor mounts for clearance

they also interfere with the Z-bar on manual trans cars, one more reason I am thinking of going with a hydraulic clutch

I dont think you can get the early larger outlet ones new, but still there are a LOT of dakotas and durangos in the junk yards

some people have had good luck using early durango dakota exaust manifolds as long as its manual steering floor shift in an early A-body dont flow as good as headers but better then stock 273 manifolds look for part # 53006618 & 53006619

early durango and dakoda manifolds will fit with out power steering and with floor shift

you say you can run a good bead and lets face it , its just an exhaust how bad could you possibly screw it up? I have seen some pretty bad welds come from muffler shops, so why not try? as long as it stays together who cares how it looks its under the car anyway
