    Hooker to TTI question

I have a 408 with aluminum heads and a 242-248 @ 0.050 .544 lift cam in a 73 Duster with a Tremec 5 speed and Dana 60 with a 3" exhaust out at the back bumper, stock-appearing A-body tips configuration. Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. It currently has a set of old school Hooker 1 5/8" uncoated...

    Lowest price on TTI's?

Anybody have a recommendation for lowest priced vendor on a set ofTTI's? I know they control the selling price, but I have heard that some vendors may offer free shipping and other incentives. Suggestions?

    ATTN TTi OWNERS! MUST READ!

Really!?!? My wife is bugged that I like old cars. She is bugged that they smell bad. She won't ride in my Duster because it make her hair stink, LOL. She does not know what headers are, much less being bugged because they don't look up to par.

    new headers

She still does not know. She was away, and I rigged up plastic and a fan to pull out the fumes. :-\"

    new headers

2 things: 1. I have 1" torsion bars, and the pass side header would rattle against it at idle, but I have alot of cam, too. 2. That paint will last about 5 minutes, and then they will start to rust, it is inevitable. When I did my rebuild 1.5 years ago, I had the headers sand blasted, I came...

Summit exhaust systems, are they decent?

I put the 3" system on my Duster, and I did have the Hooker Comps' Lots of tweeking and extra bending to get it to fit, and it is loud! However, My 1/4 mile time is the same now corked or uncorked, so the system does flow well.

So, TTi says my Hookers are made wrong, are they full of crap?

FWIW, here is a pic of my Hooker comps (1 5/8" in 3" collector) before I installed the 3" exhaust from Summit. Looks to be in the same position as yours, but maybe move forward 1" or so, and with the flange rotated as well.

3" duals on my 74 duster

Mine were flattened a bit here (red arrow) on the Pass side, but once it was installed completely, we found it was not needed.

3" duals on my 74 duster

I bought the Summit 3" from summit, and had it installed on my 73 Duster for my 408 Stroker. It was a lot of trial and error to get it to fit without hitting anything. If I had to do it over, I would go 3" to the mufflers, and 2.5" over the axels, or maybe 2.5" all the way. I will say...

    Summit 3" Duster Install

Is it common for cars to run the same with headers vs. a free flow exhaust? Below are my previous bests, with open headers, and the new best, with 3", 3/8", jets, and better Bleach Box slick warmup. Notice how the ET is progressively better in all 4 measures. That is probably the Fuel...

    Summit 3" Duster Install

That, and jetting, and Bleach Box got me about .15 under my previous best with open headers. The 3/8" fuel line did not hurt, but not sure if it actually helped.

    Summit 3" Duster Install

    1. I picked up a B-body rear with the intention of narrowing it, since I had already bought wheels, and their offset would not work with the wider B-Body. So I could not do as you are going to do. 2. By the time I costed everything out, it was going to add another $500 to the build (new axles &...

    Summit 3" Duster Install

I finally decised to replace the 2.5" to Walker Super Turbo muffler into 2" over axles exhaust, and wanted something to flow my 408's gasses away. Uncorking the headers at the strip was worth 3 or 4 tenths (12.7's to 12.3's), so I knew I had plenty of backpressure. Since theirs no kil like...

    Summit exhaust

Does anyone know for sure if they are a direct bolt on, no fab needed, for a 73 Duster with Hooker Comp 1 5/8's into 3" collectors?
  21. jimmyray

    Summit exhaust

Yes, I would like to know. I have been looking at the same kit to flow waste gas out of my 408. We have been running with headers uncorked, and it is worth about 3/10's in the quarter. My current is 2.5" into flowmasters into stock 2.0" over the axles. A little restricted, eh?
