    Caltracs with stock leafs

Thats what i had thought about preload...maybe some guys leave them preloaded driving on the street and thats why they complain about ride quality? Also, how long have you had the monos on your car, and how do they feel riding down the road, say compared to SS springs or whatever your previous...

    Caltracs with stock leafs

thats what i was planning on doing, is to remove the leaf that i added for extra stiffness...if need be i can always raise the car up too since i have holes in my spring boxes for ride height...have you since tried your caltracs with the softer springs? how do you like them?

    shocks. CE vs lakewood.

if your going to change a different front shock, id go with the calverts over the lakewoods...havent used them yet myself (though i will be ordering a set very soon to replace my worn 6cyl shocks) but everyone who uses them loves em...so they must be half decent, and for the price, whats not to...

different spring seats for SS springs?

so i understand i can use my stock seats...and yes pinion angle will be changed, ordered some shims and they are wrong, so i might just be redoing the seats but physically, what the heck is the difference between these two different part numbers for spring seats? if the ss springs work with...

different spring seats for SS springs?

hey guys, Im doing some suspension tuning/adjusting and may have to go to SS springs depending on how everything works. I was looking in the mopar performance catalog and they have spring seats like what i have, and then a different part number for springs seats for SS springs...whats the...

Will this Manual box work in an a-body?

hey guys, I have a manual box in my garage and im pretty sure it will work in my scamp, but just to be sure i have some numbers off of it that id like to run by you guys to see if it would identify it in any way in terms of chassis style or year... the numbers C0327D i believe....if that...

    why a Ford 9"?

    hey man, im just saying
  11. mshred

    why a Ford 9"?

im not placing any opinions here since to be honest im not sure which is "better" or "stronger"...i will however point out that interestingly enough in a few issues of carcraft some brothers (in seperate issues) both have old chevy II's that seem like they could easily run 10's, and both...

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

hey daredevil, a pic would be great! sorry if i misunderstood you, its kinda hard to picture this stuff in my head and to the previous poster, yes, the car is a street/strip car that will not be getting babied on the street...driven hard and as much as possible, so id like the extra safety...

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

only an inch and a half? I thought it had to come out closer to 4 inches? and if the shear pins are broken, then that means the shaft loses its collapsibility doesnt it?

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

thanks for the info johnny! ive looked on ebay, but its a matter of waiting for it to come up...as far as the pitman arm goes, it is nice to have a new one, but my old one is okay and i cant afford a new one anyways I was talking to some who have said they just pulled the shaft out enough to...

    Traction Bars?

well in that case if they are for a mopar then they should be a direct fit. So clamping the springs would definatly help...id try adding a couple clamps to the front and removing some from the back segment

    Traction Bars?

Hey Frank, dont know if i can be of much help here...when you say brand x, you mean chevy or ford? because if you do, then that means the front segment is a different length possibly meaning your rearend is in a different position as well?? either way though, i would guess that traction bars...

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

so it obviously isnt collapsable anynmore then right? id rather keep it collapsable since its a street car and thats a safety feature id like to have what if i was to pull the shaft out to the correct length, would it still be able to collapse after that? would it even be safe to run it like that?

cheapest way to convert to manual steering?

hey guys, id like to convert my power steering to manual steering without breaking the bank...I know i have a manual box somewhere in my garage although im not sure what year vehicle it came out of (do they all interchange? i have a 71 if that helps) and id like to use it with the least money...

    Traction Bars?

rumble meant that his buddy is using stock slant six torsion bars up front
  23. mshred

    Traction Bars?

BINGO! it seems that the design of traction bars just gets in the way of the inherent design of mopar springs, which work like a traction bar in a way...i say you dont even need SS springs either, just clamp the hell outta your front segments, unclamp the back clamps (or leave one if you want)...

    column shift tube delete

hey i asked my pops, and he said it was nylon...cost him a buck to buy the giant chunk (we had enough to make one for me and his dart, and probably a couple more...the delrin was more money)...as far as the maching goes, it doesnt take too long...i cant see it being too expensive, but then again...
  25. mshred

    column shift tube delete

actually, just to add to that...we tried to drill into the nylon and use a screw to hold in the bushing, but it was pretty useless as the nylon just got torn up, and it was snug to begin with...i keep saying nylon, but its a hard type, not soft by any means...anyways hope this helps!

    column shift tube delete

YES I DO! LOL when converting my column, my dad insisted we get rid of that tube...and when my dad gets set on it, we do it lol...anyways we removed the tube and my dad bought a peice of plastic (i want to say hard nylon, but im not 100% sure)...anyways, it was about a couple of inches...

    Approx cost to mini tub?

id minitub it before paint...also, its quite a time consuming process, especially if you are going to do it yourself..me, id do it myself (like i did) since im way to cheap to fork over the money for something i could do...BUT make sure you do a good job...some extra time doing a good job is...

    what do you like better?

id go manual! i was in the same boat and right now i have power steering since the 40 dollar pump from the junkyard was cheaper than the flaming river coupler...i love the firm feel of no power steering (in my daily and in my dads 440 dart), but i havent tried the power steering yet so im not...

    Opinions on rear spring idea

i do think adding a leaf will stiffen up the ride some, especially one near the top...in fact, coming to think of it, maybe you should just do a rearch? i havent driven mine yet, but my dad has stock springs with a leaf added in the rear and it doesnt ride the smoothest over bumps (although its...
